For our minimony we had open bar/bring your own and we will have open bar for our big wedding in March 2021. We want our guest to have a good time and drink as much as they'd like without having to come out of their pockets for anything. Besides, to us, who doesn't like unlimited FREE drinks? lol

What about you guys? I'm eager to see what everyone else is doing or have done for their wedding!

Well I get the "no bars" I guess it could be a religious thing. But for us personally? That wouldn't work.

Did alot of your guest purchase liquor? Most of our guest don't drink beer or wine so they would've had to purchase.

I get that. I was raised in a family where if you host an event of any kind you should be supplying all the food and drinks, especially for a wedding. With my family and friends if you do a byob party or cash wedding you will be looked at negatively and people will forever talk negative about you and your party. It's just something I was raised on to never do when hosting.

No I get it, but I personally wouldn't care if anyone would say negative things they just wouldn't be invited to my future events lol. But I agree, having an open bar was a definite for our wedding. I know that others may not afford it or maybe their guests don't drink alot

Ahhhh gotcha. Where we're located, most venues will provide bartenders but you have to supply the alcohol. There are vendors that provide all of that, but it's cheaper for us to buy it ourselves and use the venue's bartenders & supplies. We're having est. 170 (190 is on the list, but we know around 20 won't attend). Since our bridal party can bring what beer/wine/non liquor drinks they want, they are just going to bring it with them to the rehearsal. His dad and brothers are in the wedding party, so they will more than likely help us transport the alcohol for all of our guests. Even though it sounds like a lot, it will really take one trip will everyone pitching in lol.

We're from the south, so everyone's used to helping out when they can!

I think so, but again it was at 8am, I really wasn't paying attention, I know there were a variety of juices.

We are having an open bar because we and the majority would like to drink. It's rude for guests to open their wallets for any reason at the wedding.

I have been to countless dry weddings, which were all lovely and just as much fun as those with alcohol. And we will have a wide range of nonalcoholic choices..but we want the option of alcohol available.

Oh okay. Most venues near us besides community centers, fire halls, etc will provide both the bartender and the alcohol. Actually I would say 95% of them do, alot of them don't even give you the option lol

That's interesting! I had found a vendor that made signature cocktails and provided everything, but when we got to crunching numbers, we knew it would be cheaper to just supply it ourselves! We're a pretty laid back group so it's your average beer, not too expensive on the wine options, and I know my girls will bring their own White Claws/Trulys to drink!

I definitely agree that it'll probably be cheaper supplying your own alcohol!
