Open Bar? Cash Bar? Limited Bar? Dry Bar? Bring your own?

Yasmine, on October 23, 2020 at 7:26 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 81

Which type of bar will you have/have you had at your wedding? Why?

For our minimony we had open bar/bring your own and we will have open bar for our big wedding in March 2021. We want our guest to have a good time and drink as much as they'd like without having to come out of their pockets for anything. Besides, to us, who doesn't like unlimited FREE drinks? lol

What about you guys? I'm eager to see what everyone else is doing or have done for their wedding!

Ditto! We will be having a full open bar for the entire evening (cocktail hour, dinner and reception). This was one of my and fiancé’s “non-negotiables.

We are doing an "open bar" I say it like that because it will be limited to signature drinks and beer (no wine drinkers in our crowd).

We’re having an open bar! This was a non negotiable for us as we wanted our guests to be fully hosted with free drinks. I’m sure I will get a lot of hate for this, but I feel cash bars are tacky. They just aren’t normal for weddings in my family or friend group.

We're doing an open bar. Our venue requires that all alcohol that will be served must be given to them on Friday before our wedding on Saturday. We're also letting our bridal party bring their own drinks (with the exception of hard liquor), on that Friday.

Like providing our venue? If so, yes. Our venue doesn't supply the alcohol, idk if I've ever seen one that does! But they supply the bartenders and supplies. We just have to bring our beer & wine and the liquor we're using for cocktail hour on Friday so they can chill it and have it ready for Saturday! Smiley smile

We are doing an open bar, we would never have a cash bar or no bar. We definitely knew that it would be open bar. In my opinion wedding should have open bars, a cash bar is a just tad tacky for a wedding sorry.

I have to agree. I couldn’t imagine inviting my friends and family to my wedding, then making them pay for their drinks. I’ve only been to one wedding that had a cash bar and I was totally taken off guard! I hadn’t brought in my purse so I didn’t have any money with me- Plus I don’t tend to carry cash because everywhere takes cards these days. I had to go back outside and get what little cash I had with me in order to purchase a drink. I saw several guests having to borrow cash from friends. A lot of the guests in the bar area were talking trash about the cash bar & saying they just as well “go to a real bar” where they can get better drinks if they’re going to have to pay for them. A huge portion of people left shortly after dinner and DID go out to bars together (we ran into a lot of them later that evening). The dance floor was pretty pathetic because so many people left and most of the ones still there weren’t drinking because they didn’t have cash for the bar.

We are doing open bar but also will have limited drinks, mainly brunch style drinks like mimosas, bellinis, and beers. We don't drink ourselves and a good amount of our guests don't drink either, but we want the ones that do drink to be able to have some options.

Our venue provides our alcohol, I've seen that most venues do actually both the alcohol and bartender (unless community centers, fire halls etc). What is your guest count? Just curious because that sounds like alot of transporting alcohol lol
