Online Rsvp, how soon did you receive them?

Michelle, on August 15, 2020 at 11:21 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 18
By now everyone has gotten their invites and I’ve only had 2 people RSVP so far. A lot of people just texted like “We got the invite!!!”.... I am hoping they don’t think that’s their RSVP. Some texted, “Do I have to RSVP? You already know we will be coming.” thinking we can RSVP inline for them.....No I don’t! I don’t know if your guest can come and I don’t know if you changed your mind due to the pandemic!

In most of Asian culture, we don’t do RSVP’s so I’m wondering if I’m going to have to end up tracking a majority of them down if there’s no response by next month 😫 though it clearly says how to do it and it’s simple.

When’s the wedding? Most people send them in the last week. You’ll most likely have to contact people to confirm. We did both times we sent them out.

Did you guys have a deadline for the RSVP?
Does it say please “decline” or “accept”?
    Online RSVP? Or mail-in RSVP?
If you have a contact list with numbers I would have someone in the bridal party or you guys contact everyone and say we seriously need a response via ONLINE RSVP or have them tell you yes or no and RSVP for them.
We plan to give multiple options to RSVP due to the vast ages of our guests who are not up on technology: online rsvp via wedding site, email, phone/text (requires us to go on our site and plug them in). Lol
Bug them until they RSVP or decline either way. You guys need to know.

We did ours through paperless post and received about 40% within the first two days. We can also see who opened their RSVPs and who haven't.

We got about 50% of our rsvps within the first two weeks of the invites going out, a few have trickled in over the last five weeks, and I have probably 1/3 to chase down starting next week.
I really don’t understand why people can’t just rsvp!!! FH’s “adoptive” sister texted him the other day that her kids may not make it to the ceremony because it’s at 7 am, and when he told her we didn’t know they were coming at all since they haven’t rsvp’d she told him that she assumed her mom would have told us. They are traveling from TX to CO with the kids under 6, so I knew they had to make travel plans if they were coming. I was so annoyed when he told me. They still haven’t rsvp’d either, so I’ll be texting her next week I’m sure...

Lol right, I already know they won’t but they’re very few of them on our list.

Yeah I already knew how my crowd was lol I just foresee myself contacting like 40 people after the deadline since most Asian weddings never require RSVP!

It says to RSVP online by this date. Lol I am just worried I’ll be scrambling after the deadline contacting 50 people for an answer after.

I have to really make sure they are aware they can’t just show up like the other Asian weddings lol. Ours is per head.

Yeah the adults who didn’t send me an rsvp I just asked them directly. And they all were a yes so I felt a pattern was that if they were a no then they’d actually tell you. Which is also still frustrating aha

I’m also adding in the reminder if you don’t RSVP, you get no food or chair lol. Knowing them they would show up anyway

We got our first within minutes of the BM getting his invite... and also had to chase people down at the deadline.

    It varies.

I would enlist your family to help, if you think the wider family are causing the issues. You're probably correct that the cultural element is coming into play - my friend had 15 ppl show up that *were not invited* but are distant family friends to her Pakistani wedding. She said they even had the gall to sit at a front table at the main reception! So you probably need to factor in if that's something you need to deal with.

I think you were sending out the same # as us ~115? We have 79 yes, for your FYI. It may work out better for you with the delays though - we had 83 yes, but people cancelled between sending it and the deadline. We have to pay for 100 min anyway, but if yours is truly per head I know you'd want to be as accurate as possible.

Oh yeah, I need to mention that they can’t bring anyone else including kids (cousins) though I tried to make it clear on the invites. I would have to have my fiancé track it down since it’s mostly his side that haven’t been to westernized weddings lol.

We're doing a no kid's wedding too and no plus ones (unless they've been dating for a while and we know who they are). My wedding is Sept. 26. I sent out invites the week of July 20th with a deadline to RSVP by Sept. 5th. The invites included details to RSVP using our website or mailing in the card. I've had more mailed RSVP than electronic and I'm suprised. I've had maybe 6 couples RSVP online and 30+ mail in their RSVP. If they do not RSVP, then I assume they're not coming. I am strictly going off my RSVPs to tell the caterer.
