One month out--what do you have left to do?

Rachel, on August 6, 2019 at 2:04 AM Posted in Planning 2 19

I'm feeling very unorganized. We just moved into our new house (finally!! It was a looooong road) and we're excited about that, but I just feel so far behind now! We are in charge of a lot of DIY, which of course doesn't help.

One month out and we still need to:

Order rings
Finish reception table runners/ceiling decor/some centerpiece components
Make the card box/escort cards/table numbers/cake topper
Pick up my dress from alterations
Get the actual marriage license
Get my hair done/pick up makeup etc. that needs to be re-purchased before the wedding
Actually go to the rehearsal/bach and bachelorette parties/bridal tea
Decorate the venue
Figure out transportation
Make playlists for pretty much the entire day
Nag the guys to get their suits

And I'm sure there's more. Also, over 20 people on the list still haven't RSVPed.

Anyone else getting married in early September and losing their minds?

I would order your rings ASAP. I'm not sure where you'll get them from but our rings took 4-6 weeks to come in. Mens warehouse told us guys should come in the latest 3 weeks before the wedding to get fitted. And then I'm not sure where your getting married but double check the license rules to make sure there isnt a long waiting period. Its getting so close, so exciting for you!!

So exciting! But I’m sure you’re stressing so try and relax and take a breath lol. I would also have the guys get fitted ASAP and get your rings ordered now. Are your rehearsal and decorating time combined? While you’re working on projects bounce ideas off each other for songs or reach out to your dj for help, that’s what they’re there for!

I feel your pain. I am late September (20th) but also have a ton of the same things on your list. We only have like 25% rsvps back, still need to do rings, ceremony, marriage license, finish alterations, hair trial, centerpieces, bridal party gifts, cake topper, and bachelorette is this weekend. So much to do, so little time.

I am getting married late on the last weekend in September, and I'm already stressing out, so I can only imagine what you're going through! Hang in there though; it will all come together.

We are still waiting on a ton of RSVPs; although our cutoff date isn't until August. 24th.

    For us, we have left:

    -Bachelor/bachelorette weekends (both August 16th-18th)

    -Music Selection

    -Seating arrangements

    -Marriage License (getting this Friday)

    -A couple of decorative signs

    -2 dress fittings

-Pick up my dress and his suit

    -Finish writing vowels

    -Rehearsal Dinner

Girl you’re preaching to the choir. I worked in jewelry for a year and a half and harped on people all the time for not getting rings done MKNTHS in advance! 🤦🏼‍♀️ There has bee some pointless and unnecessary ring drama that I won’t go into that has forced us to wait this long. It’s driving me up a WALL!

Oh, and originally FH wanted to write vows, but I knew it would end up as a last minute mess, so I told him he could use whatever he’d written as his day-of letter to me. 😜 Thankfully, our officiant had all sorts of pre-written ones, and we put together a ceremony, vows and all, that works well for us, with minimum effort.

    Finish making the decor

Pick up my dress (second appointment is Thursday and if it's all good I'll be taking it home)

FH needs to get his shirt

    Place supplemental food orders

Make some desserts (want to have family cookie recipes from each side)

    Get marriage license

Flower Girl and Ring Bearer need haircuts (they're dogs)

Make seating chart and order escort cards

Decorate venue (that'll be the night before though!)

    Write vows

Finalize ceremony bulletin (church is putting it together but we need to clarify and correct some details)

Practice doing my hair and makeup

I was feeling pretty good about our progress...until I read this post! Our wedding is 9/14 and we need to:

    - Finalize timeline with all vendors

    - Meet with baker to place final order

    - Meet with photographer to review shot list

    - Final dress fitting & pick up dress

    - Finish paying vendors

    - Confirm the rest of our RSVP's (20 left!) & update table assignments with changes

    - Print table assignments on paper

    - Attend bachelorette

    - Send reverend vows and ceremony readings

    - Get marriage license

    - Order table numbers

    - Call hotel to confirm bar set up & room

    - Deliver decor to venue & get mani/pedi day before

I am most concerned about getting our marriage license since we have to find time during the work week to get it. Everything else is pretty easy, or will just take an hour or so of our time. Good luck everyone!
