On-site coordinator vs. day-of wedding planner

Ryan, on August 27, 2018 at 3:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
The venue we are really considering comes with an on-site coordinator that will get there at noon and leave when the last guest leaves at night. We was planning on getting a day of wedding coordinator but could this be a valid replacement?

I would think so. My venue also comes with a coordinator. She will be there for the rehearsal and Welcome Dinner. She'll be back Saturday for the wedding (not sure exactly what time) to set up and run the show for the day. I've been working with her over the past 12 months or so on the menu, details, etc.

You would likely need to see what the on-site coordinator is responsible for before making that decision. For instance, are they doing clean up/breakdown?

My question would be what can you expect from the on-site coordinator from your venue? We are provided with one as well but they'll only put out our place cards, make sure dinner is on-time, staff is handling everything properly, the family is happy, etc. If you need something more from them such as setting up decorations, favors, clean-up, or anything else, a day-of-coordinator may be more beneficial.

Ok makes sense. I do know as far as clean up/breakbown we are hiring extra staff with our catering to handle that for us.

I'd see what the responsibilities of the on site coordinator is. If they're just there to watch over the venue but they aren't really involved I'd still hire a day of coordinator. If the venue coordinator basically runs the show behind the scenes then I'd think you'd be fine with just them.

I think it could be more so a supplement as opposed to a replacement, depending on what the on-site coordinate does there.
