Ladies, I am sooooooo upset. I don't know how I managed to scratch it, but u did. I scratched the solitaire diamond on my engagement ring. I only had it for a month. I can't believe I was this careless. I told my FI and he said don't worry about it, he will upgrade it, but I don't want an upgrade. I want this one. But the jeweler said they don't buff out the scratches, I can only get it steamed and she said if I went somewhere else, it would cost a lot and it's not worth it. Have any of you experienced this? I know it's a material item, but it's a symbol from my FI as well. Ugh!!!!!

Did you happen to “inspect” your diamond when you first got it? The reason why I ask is because when FH were looking at loose diamonds, I looked at one that seemed to look scratched and I was told it was an inclusion (aka flaw) in the stone!

My thoughts exactly! I also used to sell diamonds and gemstones for a living. All of this is exactly what I was thinking.

Why didn't he get insurance on it? That would cover the stone and you can get the stone replaced.

Wow none of you really know what you’re talking about this is hilarious. Lol. Diamonds can scratch whoever told you they cannot is wrong but they can only be scratched by another diamond or anything with diamond material in it or on it. Scratches can easily be removed from the outside of a diamond you need to bring it to a cutter. Newyork city 47th street there’s diamond cutters there it cost about 150$ per carat stone will need to be removed from the ring. Hope this teaches someone something.
