October Weddings 2020

Bridgette, on June 23, 2020 at 8:20 AM Posted in Community Conversations 3 17
Hello everyone. My wedding is October 16th and with everything being lifted here in Houston, the virus is the worst it's ever been. Now I'm thinking of only having 50 people at the Wedding. Has anyone canceled there October date yet?

We postponed our October 2nd wedding. We live in Dallas. Just too risky.

Ours Is Oct. 17th In Virginia. We Arent Changing Anything Unless Our Venue Makes Us. But Since Youre In A Worse State, Id Say Wait At Least Until The End Of July To Make A Decision. Things Can Change By Then.

We are 10/10 in SC. Haven't postponed yet, but I kind of want to...I want the wedding we planned, and I want to be excited about it. But my FI still wants to go forward with it. Our guests seem to be on board with moving forward. We'll see...I want to postpone though.

October 9th in NC. Our venue did have 50% capacity (150 people) and was just restricted today to only 10 people inside and 25 people outside. Really considering postponement as well. Our guests seem okay with it moving forward too. Not sure how it is all going to shake out though

Thank you for your response. I'm not sure what to do at this point. My FHA wants to go ahead with everything. Just not sure anymore. I use to be so excited but now not so much. Good luck with what ever you decide.

I’m 10/17 in S.C. Our planner said that we would lose all of our deposits if we cancelled now so we are waiting to see. I would feel less aversion to canceling if we weren’t going to lose so much money from it, but I guess we’ll see what happens.

I think it's likely we will be able to have our weddings...things won't be closed or anything. I just kind of don't want to. I would hate to make things hard on the guests, but at the end of the day it's our wedding...right, lol?

I’m 10/24/20 in the Hudson Valley region of NY. We will likely be legally allowed to have it as my venue is starting up weddings again with a 90-person capacity, but we still may have to cut guests, socially distance, wear masks, etc. I also have several high-risk family members who I’m worried about, as well as friends and family traveling from all over the country and internationally. Seriously considering postponing to next year to have the party I want and not have to worry about people getting sick because of coming to my wedding. Good luck with whatever you decide. It’s such a personal and emotional decision and I hope whatever you land on feels right for you!

Hi Bridgette! It's still so hard to tell what October will look like, but I definitely understand your local concerns!

Here's another discussion going on right now for Texas couples with September weddings that could be helpful to check out: September wedding; postpone? Keep?

We are also located in Houston and are rescheduled for Oct 3. Our guest list is under 40. Probably going to move forward this time around no matter what the circumstances.

I’ll definitely cut my guest list down as well. After a couple of days I’m feeling a little better about the wedding.

Hey Susie I totally understand. This waiting is crazy. I never ever thought that I would get married. Now at 45 I’m planning it. Life gives us so many twists and turns. Susie your Wedding Day will be amazing.

My date is October 16th and I’m thinking about it too. We’re in Austin Tx and it’s getting bad here. Ugh I’m gonna wait until the end of this month to see if we need to postpone.

I just really hate to cancel. Everything is already paid for. The runner engraved with our date as well as napkins, cake toppers and other things. I do understand that we are in a pandemic and lives are at stake. How do you even try and reschedule and still get married in your original date. When do you put on your wedding dress? At the reception on the rescheduled date? Everyone already know you are married. I’m just really venting.......
