Hi everyone! We're planning on getting married on 10/3/20 in the Albany area, but are considering canceling all together (and having a courthouse wedding) or postponing until next year. There's a small chance we'll still have the wedding on 10/3 with a much smaller guest list but we don't want to put guests in the position of having to decide if their safety is "worth" coming to our wedding.
Our venue has said that they've been refunding couples who can't reschedule, but this was when covid was at its peak. Since NY is reopening, I have a feeing they're not going to do that for us, unless there's a second wave in the fall.
There's a chance we'll hold the wedding on 10/3 this year anyway and have a smaller guest list. But we won't know what the guidelines are until last minute and we might have to cancel.
Would you take the financial hit and cancel the wedding all together (I doubt our vendors will refund their deposits)? Also, does the fact that we signed contracts hold us legally responsible to pay vendors the full amount?
Sorry this is all over the place- I guess it reflects how confused/cluttered my brain is!
