October Brides- what are you thinking

Fmv, on April 22, 2020 at 3:27 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 5
Our wedding is October 23rd and we are starting to worry. So many festivals are being cancelled in our area and some were scheduled in August!
I know it will be a long time things will be "normal" again...but what is everyone thinking about their October weddings?
I am thinking of contacting my venue and just see what they are thinking and if October will be ok, or if we need to postpone, or cut down our guest list. When is your date and what are you thinking??

10/17-Planning As Normal. My Venue Isn't Worried About Any Changes Right Now. We'll Reassess Around September If It's Needed. Im Not To Worried At This Point.

After speaking with our officiate, we have made the difficult decision to reschedule our November 2020 (New Orleans) destination wedding to fall of 2021. The way things have been getting continually pushed out further and further, I don’t honestly don’t think things will be “back to normal” by the end of this year. We decided to save ourselves the stress & uncertainty, and just move the wedding to a (hopefully) safe date when both we, and our guests, can relax and enjoy the day instead of being worried or nervous about health/safety. This pandemic was so unpredictable and has ruined soooooo many peoples’ weddings😢 Hopefully we can all find the solution that’s right for us, and enjoy our day- whenever it comes!

We’re planning as normal for October 3rd and our venue reached out to us fairly early on. I think it’s a good idea to communicate with your venue & vendors a while and revisit your contracts to see what their plans and policies are. We tentatively decided that if we do have to postpone/reschedule we would make similar plans for a later date.

We’re planning as normal for our October 4th wedding in Mexico. Right now our resort is only canceling weddings through May. If I had to postpone I can’t make that decision until later July/August without incurring any penalties. It doesn’t hurt to reach out to your vendor but it seems most October brides are waiting til we get a lil closer. It’s all up to you! Some went ahead and rescheduled so they won’t stress but others prefer to plan as normal with some hope.

We are scheduled for 10/31. We are are keeping an eye on things (and holding off on ordering invites or anything that has the actual date on it) for now. Right now, including the two of us, vendors and guests in our list, we are at 75 people total. We are prepared to have to decrease our guest list and postpone the reception if needed. We have a Plan B for a ceremony at an alternate location if needed.
