ny wedding on a budget

Samantha, on April 6, 2019 at 8:00 AM Posted in New York Planning 0 6

Hi

I was wondering if anyone has executed a NY wedding on a 6k budget? I am open to Queens, BK, LI, upstate ideas. I am not engaged but we have a daughter together and been together for 7 years. So we talk about it all the time and its a matter of money. So Im wondering anyone have this done? I live in Queens. So fond of idea having it Central Park with backdrop of city for ceremony or Brooklyn Bridge Park. Just afraid of reception.

You're going to have to get really creative if you want a NYC wedding on that budget.

Like, weekday, off season, micro-wedding, with a lot of DIY.

How many guests did you want? Most traditional venues, even in the outer boroughs, have a floor of over $100/head.

Welcome to the community, Samantha! Of course, a wedding on your budget is possible, it just may be a case of getting creative!

Depending on how many people you are hoping to invite, a restaurant may be a good option for you to hold your reception in. It will cut out the number of separate vendors you require to hire. Here is a list of New York City Restaurant Wedding Venues but of course, if you have a family favorite or somewhere you like to go for special occasions then you should start there.

I had a browse through the ideas section for some tips to stay within budget and found this article that you may be interested in reading.

Have you thought about what your ceremony might look like or how many guests you would be hoping to invite?

I live out on Long Island on the north shore and I totally understand wanting to keep it under 6k. Look into different parks and rec centers and try to keep it small. The women I work with were telling me their wedding stories. One of them did an afternoon wedding outside with 50 people and afterwards for a reception they went to a little bar and just hung out and spent time with each other. There are so many options for keeping in budget, you just have to get a little creative.

We’re getting married at Sea Cliff Manor in Nassau - we’re having 60 people and went with a premium package but their first package starts at 100 a person. Very reasonably priced and includes a lot of food and open bar.
