NWR - Who loves their job or career?

Hopefully this isn't a duplicate post. Seriously, I've always wanted to ask and get a lot of different perspectives on this: Who truly loves their job or career?! What do you love so much about your work? What education or experiences led you to this line of work? I know everything can't be all Care...

I know everything can't be all Care Bears and rainbows but, I've heard more negative than positive on this subject lately so, humor me Smiley laugh

I LOVE my job! I went to grad school and seminary while I still owned an off premise catering company and started marrying couples about 7 years ago. I have interesting, unique couples, I get to go to amazing and unusual places (boats, museums, gorgeous venues and tiny living rooms) and every day is different.

It's fun to read about you all, and it's also nice to hear that so many have found their passion. It's what we all hope for!

I absolutely love my job! I am an elementary and middle school orchestra teacher in an inner city school district. I have so much fun everyday doing what I love. I play violin (and viola, cello and bass) all day long with kids. It's amazing. I teach many of my students for many consecutive years and seeing how they grow as musicians and individuals is such a cool experience (Some kids I have for 5 years in a row!) I love watching them accomplish things. I love seeing them enjoying music and becoming passionate about it. Teaching in an inner city school is especially rewarding. These kids have just so much talent and they truly appreciate the opportunities you give them. I just love it all Smiley smile

I have a great job, I like it a lot. I work as the Marketing Coordinator for a Heavy Equipment Dealership. We are a huge dealer ship that currently covers several states. It's a heavily male dominated industry, but everyone I work with it great. The hours are usually awesome, and I get to travel to various job sites and events through out the year to break up my days.

I love my job a lot. I do front end web development and design, (I make web sites look pretty). I like that I get to be artistic and still bring in a steady paycheck. Plus I work with fun people. I spent three years in art school working towards a multimedia art degree before transferring to another school, (read: cheaper), to get my degree in computer science.

Who truly loves their job or career?! ME! I'm a recreation therapist and I work in adapted aquatics/adapted sports. Currently I'm an adapted aquatics instructor for kids. I also do research on the benefits of adapted sport/physical activity for veterans with concussion and brain injury.

What do you love so much about your work? Everything - right now I'm working with kids and helping them reach functional goals while watching them have fun is amazing.

What education or experiences led you to this line of work?

I am about to finish my Master's degree in recreation therapy and I have about 7 years of experience working with both kids and adults with brain injury, spinal cord injury, and congenital neurological impairment.

I like my job a lot. I'm a graphic designer. (Basically get paid to make things look pretty!) I did 4 years to get my Bachelor's degree, and I interned with the company I'm working for now before they hired me full-time.

Being a designer is definitely a nice perk when planning a wedding...I'm designing my own invitations and other printed materials and saving a lot of money in the process!

    @Jules your job sounds AMAZING!

I really love my job and proud that I got it. In 2013, there were over 100,000 applicants for positions at the University I work for and only 1100 hires. We have really great vacation and sick time. The benefits are insane too. Our future children could go to the university and have 75% of their tuition paid for or go to any other accredited college and have 40% of their tuition paid for.

I am currently working towards my Masters slowly but I'll end up with a degree from one of the top universities in the country/world and only pay tax on the credits for it! I work in the Student Disabilities Office and its really very interesting work.

I'm a technical writer. I write user instructions, maintenance manuals etc for a company that designs safety products/gear for the military, firefighters, those who work in hazardous industrial environments etc. I love it. I work for a great company too with a long history. I've been here 11 years.

I worked my way into this position because no one wants to hire a technical writer without experience.

I don't necessarily see myself retiring from this company, but I don't have any plans to leave either. I'm open to new opportunities, but not actively looking for anything.

I have a B.S. in Professional Writing and completed a Masters in Professional Writing in 2012.

I can honestly say I don't love my current job. I work part-time at Hy-vee (grocery store) in the Italain dept.

But I am EXTREMELY excited to get my full-time job after I graduate this summer and get married. I am going to school for medical office management and am hoping to get a job working front desk in a doctors office to start off. Smiley smile Yet another reason why I can't wait until August graduate, get married, start the hunt for a full-time job.

Sounds like everyone loves their careers! My career and I have a love-hate relationship. I'm a licensed social worker working on a pediatric intensive care unit. I really enjoy what I do but sometimes it is sooo emotionally draining. It's so hard not to bring your "emotional" work home sometimes but my FH does a great job of helping me relax and take my mind off the craziness that's happened at work.

In undergrad I interned at a hospital in a child life program, saw what the social worker did there, then decided to go get my professional degree in social work.

I do! I get to stay at home! That's what I love about being an online seller. I have to admit it took some getting used to because I never wanted to be a housewife, and now I am one. I think what made me sad in the beginning was knowing that I got a B.S. degree and didn't practice in my field. But then I (and my H too) tell myself that I applied for hundreds of jobs for months after graduating and got ONE interview! Tough times. Now I'm just focused on growing my online business and preparing to be a mommy.

I absolutely love my career! Im a baker/cake decorator and it's the best job ever. I literally get to "play" ask day and make amazing things. I just hate where I work because I'm very limited to what I can do there. Hopefully one day I can open my own bakery. I'm completely self taught in the decorating part but I went to a vocational school for baking and pastry arts to learn more about baking and so on.

I love my job. The people I work with are great and it's always fun to come to work, it's different everyday. I like knowing that I am helping to keep dangerous people off of our streets and bring justice to victims of violent crimes.

I love my job! I am a Behavior Change Counselor working with medium to high risk parolees at a day reporting center. What I love most about my job is that I get to guide people along their journey to making positive changes and leaving behind their criminal activity.

I facilitate Anger Management, Parenting, Employment Skills and Moral Reconnation Therapy groups. So, I get to work in group environments with the participants as well as one on one with the parolees on my caseload.

I majored in Criminal Justice and Sociology. I'm really in this field because I want to focus on the rehabilitation aspect of corrections, not the "Lock them up and throw away the key" model lol

I've never had an actual job that I liked. I worked in retail for the majority of my adult life, and then I worked in a bank call center for a while before I admitted it simply wasn't the right job for me (it was far more of a sales position than had ever been disclosed, which really bothered me as it was supposed to be customer service and I find it very unethical to try and sell to people who are trying to get problems fixed).

Right now, though, I am working from home trying to put my design skills to use. I started teaching myself web design back in middle school and graphic design when I started high school, and by the time I started college knew more about the programs and general design than most of the teachers did. I never finished college (couldn't afford it)...which wouldn't have stopped me from getting a job 10 years ago, but now basically locks me out of any sort of semi high paying job.

I am enjoying working from home and creating things, though - I'm simply hoping that it takes off soon (I'm selling through etsy). And also considering going back to school part-time or something, since having a piece of paper saying you spent thousands of dollars means more than actual skill and experience now!

I love my job. I work in HR for a grocery store. I am usually working out of stores so not in a stuffy office environment. Every day is new and challenging and I get to meet a lot of great people and learn about people's careers etc.

My favourite part is opening new stores and seeing a store develop from nothing to a fully functioning store full of employees (most of whom I hired). It really is a great feeling. Also when you see people who you hired part time working there way up to full time and management positions.
