NWR - Who loves their job or career?

traeco, on February 19, 2014 at 11:04 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 46

Hopefully this isn't a duplicate post. Seriously, I've always wanted to ask and get a lot of different perspectives on this:

Who truly loves their job or career?!

What do you love so much about your work?

What education or experiences led you to this line of work?

I know everything can't be all Care Bears and rainbows but, I've heard more negative than positive on this subject lately so, humor me Smiley laugh

I love my job! I'm a Regional Vice Pesident for a fortune 100 company. It sounds bigger than it is, I'm really just a sales person. I manage the territory of LA county and I have fun doing it. I went to school thinking I wanted to be in education but I ended up getting my licenses for securities and became a financial advisor. That's where I got my start. I've been in Financial Services for 15 years and I've been w my current company for 9 years. I enjoy my job because I get to make my own schedule, my day is different everyday, and I get to meet and chat with a lot of interesting people. The hardest part of my job is that I'm on commission- so when it's good, it's really good! And when it's bad, it really sucks!!! It kind of sucks right now- but I'm sure it will turn around soon Smiley winking

Who truly loves their job or career?! I kinda do.

What do you love so much about your work? The people I work with. Regular customers.

What education or experiences led you to this line of work? Just high school education. No college. The experience of being a mother led me to finding a job, any job lol I have two kids.

I have a love/hate relationship with my career as a nurse. Almost 18 years and still work weekends and holidays...BLAH. I love helping people but am tired of bringing my work home everyday ( Home Care charting sucks ass). That being said, it is rewarding to see people get better and get to know them on a personal level like I do. Oh and the pay is pretty good too Smiley smile

I love my job. I already feel so sad to be leaving it come summer. I manage the Computer Information Systems, and a government buying program for a rural critical access hospital. I am a Certified Pharmacy Tech and when new programs were being implemented in our department I just kind of took them over. Now I make my own schedule. I love my computers, spreadsheets, and numbers.

I do! I design childrens clothing. Its super fun and I love it! I have absolutely no desire to be a 'real' fashion designer. And I get to travel, just got back from a trade show in vegas last night, and am making plans for more shows in New York and LA in a couple of months. Also making plans to bring out my own line (I have always worked for chain stores) from next year onwards, eeeek!

Just graduated from chiropractic school! in lots of debt but I do have the dr in front of my name so that's pretty cool Smiley winking But seriously I really love it already, my last year internship was amazing and now I am in an associateship. It is so rewarding and there's not a second that I regret all the schooling and loans as soon as I helped my first patient. Smiley smile FH & I met at chiro school and plan on opening our own practice hopefully by the end of this year when my associateship finishes.

Loved my job as a paramedic! It's a under paid profession for the crap that we deal with! I'm in nursing school and can't wait to start working! I love helping people.

I love that my job is not too demanding and secure. I work for the State and I get to crunch numbers all the time. It's fairly flexible, and I get a ton of holidays off, excellent benefits, and a nice pension. I finished my BS in business/accounting but I really don't need it because I worked my way up to where I am from OTJ experience.

I do! I am a Registered Nurse and studying to be a Nurse Practitioner. I am slightly bummed because I never planned on getting a doctorate but now they are phasing out the graduate level, so I am going to be in school forever! However once I am out I plan to open a med spa! Next year I am getting my aesthetic license as well. I currently work in a surgery center and we do everything from eye surgery to facial plastic surgery. The beauty of being a nurse you can do anything with it...law, consulting, own your own business. I absolutely love what I do!

    I absolutely love my job!

What makes me love my job is the awesome people I work with as well as keeping the public safe at the end of the day.

High school was the only requirement for education for my position. Although I have a diploma, working on another and will be going into a degree program after.

Oh I love love love my job! I could go on and on about it all day! I am a crime scene investigator! It's what I have always wanted to do since I was younger, and it's what I went to school for! I have my B.S. in forensic science. I love that every day is something new, and you never know what to expect or what you're going to see. I love it!

I'm on a 'break' at the moment but before.

I loved my job. I like the fact that I was in a position to effect change and that I worked with people who were passionate. I don't like all the 'games' and crap that goes along with politics but at the same time without all of that it would be boring. I worked for federal govt. In DC.

Even though you needed a MA/MSc for my job if has nothing to do with the subject my undergraduate and graduate are in. But they are academic "clever" subjects and I do think the schools I went to helped.

I love my job, usually...but am not "in love" with it. LOL

I never thought I would be in the field, but being unemployed for a year and taking on a job just to get out of the house, led me to my job as a department manager in an upscale chain of family owned grocers. I love that I make my own schedule and am off work early enough to still enjoy the day (1:30 or 3:30)...I love the responsibility and the ability to mentor others...love my bosses (everyone from my store director, corporate director, and the owners!) I love that I get decent pay and really great corporate level benefits. And I also love how our customers see I work for them, and RAVE on how much THEY love us! But it IS a LOT of hard work, and I am on my feet the entire day, in a COLD ass room, 85% of the time. Occasionally I have to deal with some idjut who has no work ethic or values...but other than that...pretty spiffy! Smiley winking

LOVE my new job...I am a para-educator. I work with k-6th grade kiddos in speech language pathology department and also am an in-class para for part of my time. I have done every job under the sun and gone to school for as many things too.

I am currently back in school to get certified to be an SLP Assistant and then will move on to a full teaching license.

Substitute teaching got my foot in the door. Couldn't be happier!!

I hate my job right now but love the field. I've been a legal secretary for almost 2 years and I'm just sick of it and not in love with the type of law my firm does. But it confirmed that I want to go to law school. I love that side of it, but I want to do family law instead of real estate. I'm SO excited to go back to school in September. (And DH is excited to be done with school and start being the breadwinner, so we're all good!)

I love my job as a high school art teacher. I get to work with some really awesome kids and share what I am passionate about with them every day. Sure there are challenging days, but I can't imagine doing anything else!

I truly do have the best job in the world. I'm a kindergarten teacher and I get to come to work every single day and laugh and sing and dance and watch my students grow from not knowing their letters or sounds to being great little readers.
