NWR: Name a weird/funny thing your pets do

Spirit, on July 22, 2016 at 8:52 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 60

We have 3 cats in the household.

I'll go first:

Ham is a papa's girl. She is VERY timid and will not let anyone come close, yet had no problem approaching FH and sitting on his lap when he went to the shelter to pick out a cat (to impress me, apparently, it was before we were an item). She won't even get fully used to me after 3 years, and I'm the cat whisperer in the family! Only FH is allowed and she purrs only for him.

Ham will also chew my hair.

Cheez is my rescue. A quiet cat, she nevertheless goes berserk when I get out the shower. She will meow a lot, and jump on me to rub her face all over my bathrobe. It's the only time she purrs. She also talks back if you scold her. "CHEEZ" "Mieh!" "DOWN" "MIEH!"

Jasper is my rescue too. He knows the "Sit" command. He goes slightly psycho whenever he has to take a shit, like, the entire building knows. He's vet checked, he just panics, meows a lot, shits in the bathtub then runs all over the flat.

My cat and dog have a love hate relationship. My dog (Vivie) will lie on the floor to nap and my cat (Mini Me- He looked exactly like his mom who was my cat as well until she ran away) will sniff her fact and tail but as soon as Vivie tries to sniff him back Mini Me snaps and starts smacking at Vivie's nose smh.

Mini Me also only likes running water so he will drink from his little kitty fountain or sit in the tub and meow until someone turn on a every so slow stream for him.

Vivie does this thing in the car where I roll the windows down and she sits in the middle seat in the back and eats all of the air coming in the windows lol

My dog Holly likes chewing on her own hair. I catch her eating if off of her body, or scratching herself a lot to make herself shed hair and then eating it off the floor. She gets mad when I find her clumps that she "saved for later" under her bed and throw them out. One time when she was super stressed for some reason she ate like all the hair off of her tail. The vet had to monitor her to make sure it all passed instead of clumping and causing a blockage. Even the vet called her a weirdo, they think it is a compulsive/neurotic/anxiety thing. She is a cutie though!

Jamison, our cat, plays fetch. He also gives paw and eats dog bones. Lately, he's been throwing himself on the ground and rolling around meowing when he wants attention. Very dramatic.

Abby, our lab, sounds like Chewbacca when she gets really excited. It's adorable.

My dog likes to chase his own leg and bite it when he gets really excited. I think since his tail curls up over his back he can't get to it to chase that.

He's also very cat like and uses his front paws like a cat when playing with a ball.

I feel like at minimum once a day I'm telling FH "you have a weird dog" or "does he even know how to dog?" Because he's so weird.

My bearded dragon, Hinder, likes to sleep in the weirdest positions. I've seen him sleep standing up against his glass, dangling from a branch, and on the rare occasion he does sleep flat on the ground, his little arms are always at his sides. I don't know why but it cracks me up. This picture looks like his head is caught but it's not. He has a log leaning against another log, and he shoved his head in the little space between the two. His little arms at his side as usual. He's so funny. ETA: I haven't seen Wizard of Oz since I was little but this pic reminds me of the witch that had her feet sticking out of the house.

I got a cat because I wanted an independent animal. I ended up with Angel instead. She loses her mind when I leave the room. Has to follow me everywhere. I literally have to be visible to her at all times or she howls like a wounded dog. If I leave town for more than a day, she won't eat, she loses fur, waits by the door for days. She has to touch me at all times. I feel like a captive. I had no clue a cat could be so needy and dependent. This has been my life for 17 years. She is my heart. I wouldn't trade her for anything.

My Winston will get really excited when you whisper & he thinks that means there is a squirrel, lizard, or anything else you can chase. It's hilarious- want him to run around the house acting all crazy & barking, just whisper (anything at all) to him

My Jackson is my blind boy. He's 9 but has been blind since he was 4 or 5. He has really, really good ears though. He will watch you eat even though he can't see. He knows when your hand is at your plate vs your mouth & will follow your hands with his eyes.

Max only eats frosting.. He will get into cake (once.. It was on the table) but only eat the frosting.

Taz rubs her body against the walls. There are brown stains on the walls because she also rolls in dirt.

Woobie FREAKS out after baths. Like rubs everywhere, rubbing herself on everything.

Rex has to pee every time another dog pees. Right on top of where they peed. He's also a 50 pound lap dog.

Louie (or Noodle) will run in front of you and flop down right in front of your feet so you either stop, step on him, or trip over him. He also will follow you around in a sitting postions (like a shuffle) if he thinks you have treats. Lol

My cat's meow sounds more like a chirp. Maybe this is a problem? He's done it since day one though, so I don't know. Also, when I put food in his bowl he does this weird sort of high-five/swat thing. Not sure what that is about but it's cute.

Neither are still alive, but my cats were crazy (aren't they all?)

My older one LOVED marshmallows. She would rip open packages of Peeps to get to them. She would also race me to the bedroom when I would say it was time for bed.

My younger one (got after the older one died) would seriously throw temper tantrums. Make him get off the table, tantrum. Not feed him from my plate, tantrum. I had a "tunnel" that hung on the back of the front door. He would run down the hall, jump in, and race up it so hard that it banged the metal supports against the door at every level. Once at the top he would look at me with a "what are YOU going to do about it?" look.

It's been forever, but I miss those boogers. Won't get another because my schedule doesn't allow time to properly care/interact with them.

This is my dog Racer. We bought her from a kennel when she was 6 months old. She was very timid when we got her. My husband taught her if she rolled over on her back she would get a belly rub. Now that's all she does, she won't really let you pet/run her head or back. She just rolls over for a belly rub. She is ridiculous.

My baby boys name is Hank! we added a middle name once he started getting huge so his name is now Hank McCoy because he's my beast. :-)

His mom rejected him and his litter so we got him at 5 weeks old. This could possibly be why he suckles. basically he self soothes by suckling and kneading this duck i got him. he sleeps with it and grabs it if there's a storm (he doesn't like thunder or the sound strong winds make) or when he gets overly excited lol

He chases his tail, but actually catches it sometimes

When it's cold outside, or when I am doing my workouts I will put him on the treadmill. he's a hound dog/german shepherd mix so very high energy working breeds put together. (don't worry we go on real walks too! this just helps supplement the fact we don't have a yard for him to play in right now!)

Well my one dog, Maverick, is a 10 year old border collie lab mix, who is as sweet as can be. Since he's an old man, I bought him an orthopedic dog bed for him to rest on during the day. Every single day he lays down directly NEXT TO the dog bed. On the hardwood floors. Lol. My other dog, Myla, is an 8 year old maltipoo. She growls at everything and anything that isn't me lol. She's a rescue and was sitting on my lap in the car on the 3 hour ride home when we got her, so that's probably why she only likes me. She's a little brat to everyone lol! She also will carry around her dog toys in her mouth and cry endlessly and won't let anyone take them. The toys she likes are the stuffed kind because she doesn't chew, and we think it's because they remind her of her puppies she lost. At the amish puppy mill she was rescued from, she was used as a breeding dog and had countless puppies that she never saw after they were born. Breaks my heart!!
