Alright is is just me or is Go Fund Me a TAD overused?! FH's cousin recently had her 4th child and has been sharing her go fund me page to help with her maternity leave. Alright is is just me or is Go Fund Me a TAD overused?! FH's cousin recently had her 4th child and has been sharing her go fund me page to help with her maternity leave. I feel like if you couldn't afford the time off of work why did you have ANOTHER child?! Maybe I'm just being a cranky bitch but if you don't have the funds there ARE ways of not getting pregnant. I told FH we should start a Go Fund Me page to fund the wedding?? Why the hell not?!

For every person that posts, "Fund our Dream Wedding", "Fund our Tropical Honeymoon", "Fund our Daughter's College Trip to Spain", or "Fund our Transmission Repair", I want to go on and say, "Hey, potential suckers! How about supporting an organization like St. Luke's Children's Research Hospital. For them, it isn't about plated vs. buffet, open bars, barns vs. ballrooms, or securing a videographer. For them, it's all about kids suffering with terminal diseases -- kids who should be with their peers practicing for their parts in the elementary school play, or choosing a seat with their friends in the cafeteria instead of going for another scan or painful treatment. If you have a few bucks to fund anything, why not invest it into these kids -- people who aren't worried about dream weddings, exotic vacations, voluntary school trips, or fixing cheap cars. How about funding a little life that has yet to begun -- a life that, without the generous spirits of doctors, nurses, administrators, and average citizens, will end long before that child even knows what an eighth grade graduation looks like." Priorities, human beings...priorities.

If you're old enough to get married, you're old enough to fund your own wedding. If you can't, get out on the street with your tin cup and a sign OR get another job.

It's actually really sad how bad maternity leave is in America. While I don't agree with having a go fund me for maternity leave I do believe that every woman should be entitled to at least 12 weeks of paid leave. Honestly it's hard to go that long without a paycheck even if you scrimp and save unless you are pretty damn wealthy and babies need their mothers.

I saw numerous go fund me account for Beyonce tickets. For a $1000 each. Um she better be hanging out and buying me dinner for a grand!

A concert is not a reason to ask for donations.

What happens after the maternity leave? Are they going to do a Go Fund me for the first birthday, Christmas, etc? So stupid.

Most people shouldn't have kids. Go Fund Me pages are nothing more than curb side begging online.

Stupid reason for a go fund me. Now, if it was to buy birth control for someone who had a litter of kids already and struggled to support them by working a crappy job? I might donate.

We were just talking about this at dinner! Both agreed it would be in poor taste to start one for our honeymoon Smiley smile

Hmmm, I'm gonna start one for the tummy tuck I'd like to have...people are fucking ridiculous! This country not having paid maternity leave compared to other countries blows my mind, but to be begging online for money...oh hell to the no!

What? That's just crazy. I returned from maternity leave at 6 weeks because we couldnt afford longer only to walk straight into 2008 recession "we are temporarily laying you off, come back in a year" No one did shit to help. The only good thing I've seen lately is a "food train" was set up for a friend who was having twins. Basically someone else set up a page for people to schedule what day they could come by with dinner the first 2 weeks after the babies were born. Awesome idea.

Let's see I need a new roof, central air, new drive way, well holding tank and to pay rest of daughters wedding. Well, maybe I should start a gofundme! Just kidding! People today are unbelieveable. Don't work for anything let people pay for it. I live in New Jersey where you do collect a disability for 12 weeks of maternity. I think it's 6 weeks before then 6 weeks after.

I've been feeling some type of way lately because a friend who I met through breast feeding classes recently had a baby and the baby got very sick and was in the hospital for the first few months of her life, so I donated almost every time I got paid because she as unable to work due to the demand of having a sick infant and a toddler.

Well now that her baby is home and healthy, they bought a brand new (expensive) house and she posts photos bragging about all of the expensive furniture and stuff she is purchasing. She also got a brand new car a couple of months ago. I don't know if they got a loan or if her husband got a raise, but I really hope she's not using the money we donated to buy shiny new houses and cars because that's not what we donated for.

    Edited for spelling errors
