NWR- Go Fund My Maternity Leave?

Why not go ahead and ask to fund his paternity leave too. Why should she get all the perks with the free, undeserved dough.....ya I'm cranky too.

I am so sick of seeing go fund me accounts. Ppl tend to overuse them and they are always for the most ridiculous reasons.

My sil brother just lost his house in a fire. They started a go fund me, that I am ok with. I actually saw this go fund me crap about maternity leave on the today's show fb page. I shit you not the headline was along the lines of, I think they felt bad for me cause of the situation we are in. Yeah no health issues, just she was the bread winner and wanted to take 12 weeks off from teaching piano.

I am all about birth control and NOT having babies you can't afford, but I'm also gonna get political and say I wish everyone was guaranteed even a smidge of ma/paternity leave. Because whether you 'should' have had a baby or not, that child needs its parents.

But I also saw a Go Fund Me for "Help me buy my dream car!"... Immediately unfriended on FB.

I haaaate GoFundMe pages. Someone made one for my mom and I was so embarrassed about it.

I second what Joan said! Its actually really sad that CA (of all states) just passed a law to give 60% of pay for 6 weeks of leave! 60% of 6 weeks? I you kidding me? And this is the MOST any state gives. Even SF's 100% of 6 weeks is kind of atrocious.

I'm not big on big government, but parental leave is ONE thing that should be paid for the by government. For 3 months--which is nothing compared to Canada's 1 year!

I saw them talking about go fund me for maternity leave on the today show. I actually had a friend start one because his wife had her tubes tied before they met. He wanted money to get it reversed so they could have their own kids! I couldn't believe it. Unfriended!

Valid points jewles. However in this particular case none of these things apply. I'm sure she did want 4 kids but asking other people to pay her maternity leave is too much for me. I was not in the best financial situation when I had my 2nd child but I sucked it up and managed to get by. My whole tax return that year went to pay the bills while I was on leave. You do what you gotta do. But I never asked others to contribute on a go fund me page. Just my 2 cents.

@thelegalista I completely agree. It pisses me off SO MUCH. My best friend has been in the hospital for almost a year now, fighting for her life over some mysterious brain disease that the doctors know nothing about. She is slowly learning how to talk again and make facial expressions. And then I see people request funds over shit like this?! It fucking kills me.

Its totally bullshit that there's no paid maternity leave in this country. That being said, I agree with you 100% - if you can't afford to have another child (including taking unpaid time off of work) THEN DON'T HAVE ANOTHER KID!

Yeah! My friend just started one to buy her a carrier for her toddler! Seriously? !?!
