NWR: direct sales

furturemrsdandrea, on August 21, 2016 at 9:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26

My FSIL is crazy about LLR. I DESPISE their clothing. I get that some like it, it's just not my thing. I work in a CPA office and I meet with clients daily. Tight, stretchy, and knit jersey are 3 things I dont have in my wardrobe. My FSIL knows this because I am pn a tight budget so my regular clothes tend to be pieces I wear to work. Anyway, she held a LLR party last week and for 3 days did nothing but tag me in things and every time, I told her no thanks. Then today, during my dress debate for a wedding this weekend, she said that I should but this dress from LLR. My eye twitched. Jersey knit is not formal. Jersey knit can not be made formal with accesories. I dont know what else to politely say to her that I do not want any of her direct sales crap. Between the leggings, makeup and jewelry shes always pushing I am about to lose it. Sorry for the second post and being so needy today but I cant say anything to any of my real life people.

LuLaRoe - I have a bunch of friends that love it. I do not. Luckily, they are not pushy about it.

I also hate Lularoe, and multi level marketing rackets in general. I had a friend I haven't spoken to since high school ask if I could host a party. Like...no.

That's so frustrating. I must say I love LLR but 1. You're right it's not very formal 2. Getting any kind of matching clothes is super difficult and 3. Your wedding is not her platform to make money (whether directly or indirectly with referrals or using your wedding as marketing). I typically love supporting people in network marketing/direct sales - *if I like the product* - I've had a few people I just had to say flat out I just don't like the product and can't support it. I hope your FMIL gets the hint. Maybe your fiance can talk to her if she doesn't. Best wishes

Honestly some of the dresses CAN be formal, such as the Amelia. It's all about how you accessorize. I personally love LLR. I've found a way to wear it everywhere even to my work which is a business environment. I may be biased but I also think it looks good on every body type, plus supporting small business's is a great thing. LLR is different than most direct sales as you don't need to build a downline to be successful, so any piece you buy from her is directly supporting her.

Just tell her you don't support MLM business schemes and their ethics.

I hate MLMs. They take away from legitimate small business owners by spamming all the possible advertising venues with products that don't work, so those of us who work out asses off to make and sell our own, legitimate products, have people pass us by because they're so inundated with the MLM crap.

I hate MLMs. With a passion.

I know a girl who recently announced on FB she is selling LLR, but promised that she wouldn't post about it. Instead, she added me to her stupid LLR group. Defeats the benefit of not posting! And annoys the crap out of me.

I hate the constant notifications. I shot down he idea of LLR dresses for my bridesmaids. She isn't even a 'consultant' for LLR, her friend is....I guess she gets free stuff.

I would simply tell her that LLR is not dressy enough for any of your needs - and you don't have a use for expensive lounge wear.

No strechy knit dress is acceptable to wear to work for me or weddings

And for the record, yes you can dress up a simple dress with accessories. That being said, there still is a huge difference between formal business attire and business casual attire. I fail to see how any piece of jewelry can make a knit dress formal.

I love my leggings I bought, but I work from home so I can wear that kind of thing. I do hate the constant notifications! All the time, all day long!

I love LLR, and definitely think an Amelia style dress could be worn as a guest at a wedding... but I cannot stand pushy MLM sellers. I only stay a part of groups of people who aren't annoying... and I instantly unfilled the page so I can check it out when I want and not feel harassed.

I love LLR and wore a Nicole for our engagement pics! It's lame she is being so pushy. My one friend is quite pushy and tried to get me to invest in my own LLR situation and I was like no! It's crazy expensive and she will not stop. It sucks but try to tell her to leave you alone?

Ugh I hate when people do this. I use to work at a major retail bank and we always had to sell banking products and services or we would have no job. I loved the customer service of banking but hated the sales part. So now when i see someone is trying to sell me something or doing a so called clever marketing tactic it rubs me in the worst way. Only thing i can think of is to tell her you are not and will not ever be interested in LLR products so please stop bringing them up.

OK let's not confuse direct sales with MLMS lol. There are lots of excellent direct sales companies, and lots of good MLM companies, and lots of good network marketing companies that help families put food on the table. If you don't like someone's product, that's fine, you don't have to. But don't diss how they earn a living just because you have an misconception about how their business works. ETA: There are also not so great companies and people who don't know what they're doing who give the DS industry a bad reputation. Being pushy, adding you to groups without permission, etc etc. But there are companies and people like this in EVERY industry.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that cannot stand LLR. It is way too over-priced for the quality. And all the obnoxious patterns look like legging outfits I wore as a child of the 90s...gosh sorry for being such a hater, but I just cannot get down with this craze. Lol
