Non Traditional Venue

Is anyone else getting married in a non traditional venue? I’m getting married in a warehouse which is really cool and it honestly looks abandoned on the outside when you first see it. A trolly will bring our guest to the venue from a parking lot and they will have no idea what they’re walking into....

So im just wondering if there are any other

Definitely candles and cylinders and lanterns even Edison lights. The great thing is my venue provides most of the decor at no extra cost

The warehouse looks awesome! My parents live on a grass airstrip and I’m getting married just off to the side of it (we were going to do on the airstrip but it was a safety hazard)

My fiance and I are planning to rent an AirBnb home with a lot of land and get married outside. We really wanted to keep the pricing of the venue down and avoid any high costs. We just want to get married and have other plans for any left over money. lol Our mothers aren't too excited about the idea but we have our reasons.

Thank you, and wow an airstrip is super unique. I bet not many of your guest have ever been to a wedding on a airstrip that’s really cool.

Airbnb is a really good idea. I checked peerspace originally which is similar concept to Airbnb but none of the spaces had parking. And parking in NYC is nonexistent.

Your moms will get over it. I’m sure your day is going to be gorgeous, plus you’re saving money. So it’s a win win situation.

    Hi Erin,

Congratulations on your engagement. That's really cool we're getting married in the same venue. How did you find it btw, not a lot of people know about it. When I mention it to friends and family they have no idea what I'm talking about. I'm getting married in June so no pictures of the wedding yet but I will definitely post some when I do. Which room are you using ?

We rented an Airbnb property on a river here in Florida. As far as venues go, we rented it for 4 nights and still stayed under budget! Not so much on other stuff, but..oh well. Lol

I think I found it on WeddingWire or another similar site and figured it was close by so we should take a look. My fiancée and I really didn’t want a super traditional ballroom wedding but weren’t clicking with any of the venues we checked out. We fell in love with AF on our first visit. We’re using the Hamilton Room. What about you? How has the planning been? We’re still over a year out so it feels so far away!

I am getting married at a WWI airplane hangar! I love the non-traditional aspect, plus it ties in my FH career as a pilot. The history and the beauty of the area (plus a million airplanes flying by) is totally us. Yours sounds so cool!

Maybe find something with a little bit of both! Depending on where you live, Sept can be a bit iffy. I really appreciate that my ceremony will be outside, but the reception will be indoors on the same property in an airplane hangar. It gives the option for indoors ceremony in the case of weather, plus an escape from the heat.

We are getting married on July 27th, 2019 - unknowingly, a 727 is also a model of aircraft! The venue is an all white space with lofted ceiling with wonderful beam work and huge windows. We have to do a lot to the space! We are doing grey tables, white chairs, white hobnail jars for the flowers. Each table is going to be different with a series of vintage books, globes, and small suitcases. Everything is travel themed and very personal for my FH and I.
