Non Floral Altar Decoration Help

The NEW Mrs. Q, on September 1, 2010 at 11:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

We are somewhat anti flowers and decided to go with paper lanterns on the pews and paper lantern centerpieces. LOVING the idea, but I'm not sure what we can do on the altar of the church that won't look to casual. Here are some pics of the pews and centerpiece idea.. replace the flower balls with paper lanterns

What are your colors? Wal-mart sells paper lanterns in lime green, baby blue, pastel pink, and white. They would sit perfectly on the vase in picture #2. But you'd want something within the vase, maybe just a single submerged flower wouldn't be too floral? Or marbles or something of that sort.

My unity candle/stand was decoration enough for the altar at my church. It was a beautiful marble altar, and that is all we were allowed to put on it, but it looked fine. We put 2 large flower arrangements in vases on the floor at both sides of the altar.

Yes, replace them with paper lanters. Here is a photo of a store window display that I saw in NJ that used the paper lanterns.

You could always do string lights on the alter as well. String mini lanterns or just neat bulbs of light, depending on your color.
