No, you actually can't RSVP Maybe

NotAllWhoWanderAreLost, on June 17, 2015 at 7:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

I have had lots of drama with wedding invitation, we are now up to 15 lost in the mail.... :/

But on top of that, today I got an RSVP card back that said Mr. & Mrs. Z .... and then next to the will attend is written "Possibly 4 adults and 1 child".

The invitation was addressed to 5 adults and 1 child... so not only did the response say "possibly" but IDK who the 4 are that are coming.

WTF am I supposed to do with that?!??!!? REALLY people, this is not a backyard BBQ that you can respond maybe too. *GRUMPY GRUMPY FACE*

Guess FH is calling his aunt tonight!!!!

Are they adding four people and a child? How do they even think that's acceptable?!

Hopefully he will be able to talk to them and straighten it out to find out who is coming for sure!

I don't think they are adding anyone, it is that they don't know their work schedules. But I can't really plan for "maybe an extra 5 people". Especially since last week FHs mother told me they weren't going to come at all!

Ohh they aren't adding, they vaguely responded to your RSVP? Yeah that's annoying too.

No, it would be worse if they were adding people, but since I am short ~150 responses and I have to have minimum numbers to my venue next week, and these people are responding "Maybe" I am a little bit irrate.

Good thing FH is working late tonight so that I had time to vent on here instead of just screaming at him. His family doesn't seem to understand at all why we need a head count. They usually ellope or get married in a barn with cheap catering, and when they do family stuff it is potluck style usually on his grandparents farm. Our wedding is definitely not any of those things so we keep getitng answers like this or well I will let you know the week of. NO NO you can not let me know the week of. Either you care enough about us to figure out your damn schedule or you don't. This is not somehting you can just "drop in on" to "hang for a little bit" .....

Wow, I can't believe they had the nerve to write "Possibly". Sorry this is happening right before you have to give them the min. numbers!

If it makes you feel better, I had a "maybe" today too. I texted her to ask if she'd be able to make it, and she replied this: "I honestly honestly don't know... =S I mean if I could come it'd be like a last minute thing it depends on my grandparents' plan and I think at this point its too early for them to decide.."

We had 1 added plus-1, 2 weeks before, then 1 cancellation 2 weeks out, and another 3 cancellations 1 week before the wedding. Luckily the seating chart was in an Excel document, but we still had to move people around. Then we had 4 no shows, which was noticeable with less than 100 guests. Between the per plate cost and the extra centerpiece we had ordered, we wasted over $1,000, due to guest indecision. ARGH!

Wow, reading all these responses remind me how thoughtless people can be! It is crazy what people think is "ok". :/
