So my reception venue will not pour shots. Which is fine, but how do I let people know? Lol watching four weddings and one of the chics said having a no shot sign was "tacky" haha. Anyone have any thoughts?! I mean I just assumed the bartender would say no if anyone asked but I think There should be...

Ive broken the bad news to a few friends but I dont want to be like oh... hi... by the way drink as much as you want... but not in shot form!

As another option, are you planning on having an after party anywhere? If you go to a bar or even in your room after the reception with your close friends, you can do some shots then!

I don't think many people will try to order shots and if they do, I would leave it to the bartender.

I saw that 4 weddings - that sign was tacky. But maybe so is ordering shots at a wedding...

I honestly would not worry about it. The only time I've seen shots at a wedding is when the bride and/or groom ask for it. IMO it's not the atmosphere for shots.

I agree with all of the other girls let the bartender handle all of it. Especially if you are having an open bar people can get just as drunk w/out the shots.

I don't think you need a sign for this. I mean, I have been to bars that don't do shots! The bartender just tells you when you ask for them. I go "ahhh man that sucks" then I promptly order something else. No water off my back, just means I order something different.

That said I don't think weddings are a place for shots...

We will be doing shots for my wedding, it's always been done at all the Mexican weddings I've attended. I'm having a garden wedding and anyone too drunk to drive will stay the night and have menudo for breakfast. (Menudo), hangover soup!!!

I agree, I think you should let the bartender be the bad guy. Our catering company who is also in charge of alcohol, doesn't allow shots so my family and friends will find out that day if they ask for it LOL

You can just continue to tell close family and friends and let them spread it by word of mouth...

Let your bartender tell them if a guest tries to order one, you don't need to go around telling people yourself

Agree with Serena. People don't get Pina Colodas or Margaritas at a wedding for example so why would shooters be any different at an open bar? If you are charging people for their cocktails then why would you care what it is that they paid for. Just saying
