Robert and I met at work. I was in the front lobby waiting for an interview talking with a mutual friend who had already worked there when Robert first saw me. He claimed it was love at first sight and kept asking our friend who I was. Just a few months later we were standing next to each other in roll call every day. As time went on we started talking to each other more and more. He claims the first thing I said to him was “sassy” and that is one thing he liked about me. Every day we would learn new things about each other. He would buy me lunch (although I wasn’t hungry at the time and felt bad for not eating it) and I would run to get him bottles of water out of the vending machine because he was too lazy to get out of the control room. (He wasn’t supposed to be hanging out in there anyways!) Of all the times we worked together and talked while waiting to clock out, Robert always seemed afraid to ask for my phone number. It took a little liquid courage to take it to the next step. :) Cue bar scene: It’s his 27th birthday. Instead of inviting me out with him and our co-workers, he insists that I have my “hot” friends go to the bar and meet them there. He told me later that was just a ploy to get me to meet up with them. I ended up going out with a friend to watch her friend play guitar in…wait for it… THE SAME EXACT BAR THEY WERE AT! Ironic huh? Long story short, Robert had a few drinks that night (or maybe more than a few) and ended up walking me to my car and leaving with my phone number. The rest is history. Now, most of you know a lot of my family works at the jail with us. Before I started, every single one of them warned me to stay away from jail guards. Normally I would take their advice into consideration but this time I’m glad I didn’t. I did a little investigating on what kind of person Robert was and came back with nothing but good things. Everyone who works with us loves him because he is just an all around great guy. I think the same too! He and his two beautiful little girls instantly clicked with both my family and all of my friends. I couldn’t be more thankful that everything has worked out the way it has. Our life is perfect.
