No exit dress= Tacky?

So, my roommate always raves about how TACKY it is to leave the reception in your wedding dress, but to me it seems so cute. Is this a common occurrence? I don't want tons of people talking about me behind my back, so should I start searching for a different dress to wear? Thanks, girls!

    I'm glad I'm not crazy.

I've always felt the same way, as in when else are you going to wear the dress?! Get the most use out of it!!

For some people that have asked, my roommate is from Kansas. And really, she's pretty critical about any of my wedding ideas "nonfloral centerpieces are gross. Just having greenery makes you look super poor." (After I say I'm just having eucalyptus...) But really, I just was like "maybe she's right this time." Nice to know she's not. Y'all rock.

The only reason I will be changing before I leave is that we are going straight to our honeymoon and I don't want to leave my dress in our car for a week (it will go home with my parents). If you don't have to change don't!!!

Oh my goodness, that's not tacky at all! I couldn't imagine leaving my wedding in anything but my wedding dress. Totally weird advice. Haha I love how @Nikki said she would be disappointed if FH wasn't the one to take it off. I sooo agree

Sounds as though she's jealous you're getting married.

My first wedding, in 1977, I did change into an ivory short skirt dress because we left the reception and immediately got on a plane to Hawaii... so I changed for practicality reasons. THIS TIME, since it will be my LAST TIME in a wedding gown Smiley smile Smiley smile Smiley smile .... it's not coming off until he takes it off.

Our reception is in a hotel and we are staying there for the night----I'm wearing my gown all night--it's the most expensive item of clothing I've ever purchased! And to leave your reception in a different outfit--where would you change out of your gown--in the bathroom???? Your roommate sounds tacky!

"when you show up to wherever you are staying the night everyone will know what's going on"

Lol well, what'll probably be going on for us is we'll go to our room and crash. It seems like hotel staff would know better than anyone that most couples are too tired for hot and dirty sex on their wedding nights. If anything, the consensus seems to be sloppy/drunk quickie, eat, crash.

Did you invite your roommate to your wedding? I hope not.

Is she being informed on wedding etiquette from the "Father of the Bride" movie? Because really, that's a ridiculous thing to call tacky.

Tacky is a cash bar or gofundme for your wedding.

Your roommate seems to really be overthinking this and it's just silly. I can't imagine not leaving wearing my wedding dress! (Emaeba - that was exactly the image that came to mind. I love that movie!)
