No exit dress= Tacky?

So, my roommate always raves about how TACKY it is to leave the reception in your wedding dress, but to me it seems so cute. Is this a common occurrence? I don't want tons of people talking about me behind my back, so should I start searching for a different dress to wear? Thanks, girls!

I am only changing after people leave so I don't go to a hotel in a huge dress and my FH can't get me out of it.

I loooove my dress and only want to wear it!

I will be leaving our wedding in my dress. I will be going to the bar after the reception in my dress. And j may have to sleep in my dress because got knows. FH is going to have no idea how to get my dress off!

Why does your roommate think it's "trashy" if everyone knows what's going on when you get to where you are staying? Is it that people don't want her to know she just got married? I want everyone to know that I'm the bride lol! Or is it because people are going to think you guys will have sex **gasp**

@Becoming a Mrs haha! Yep. I think I'll need to have one of my girls get me started because FH will have no idea how to get all those little buttons undone.

Sooooo getting married is trashy??? Wth? I would think showing up somewhere in the latest slut wear would be trashy... Your wedding dress? Not even close. Unless your wedding dress is slut wear and then we have a whole other problem lmao. Seriously I'll be wearing mine all damn day.

Is she easily embarrassed or is she pretty judgemental? I have to admit that when I see a couple in wedding clothes coming back to the hotel my first thought is "you guys must be exhausted!" But.... hey if your not have at it.

My last DD wore her dress to wedding, reception, and after party at Buffalo Wild Wings! She said for that kind of money she was going to get some mileage out of that sucker.

I think your friend is a bit nuts.

I've seen it done both ways. I've never for once thought it was tacky to stay in the dress. I do think it's unnecessary to change into something different when you're just going to change out of it 15 minutes later at the hotel.

I have never heard of an exit dress. I know some people change into a different dress at the beginning of the reception so they are more comfortable for dancing and such but a dress you put on just to leave?! If you want to keep your dress on all night then do so and don't worry about people that would be offended over something like that.

I may change into my rehearsal dress but that's only because I don't know if my wedding dress will fit in the car!! Lol

I walked out the reception and climbed in the car in mine and then walked straight into our hotel 9 via the parking garage and around the building cause I am a dumbass and can't read to find the entrance from garage). I did not give 2 shits what people thought.

Definitely the weirdest thing I've heard lol. I will be staying in my dress and so has every bride at every wedding I've ever been to. I'll change for the after party at the hotel but not before that

I can't understand what's even a little bit tacky about it. My wedding is over at 4, wherever we go afterwards, my dress is going too.

Maybe this is where she is coming from. If it is assumed that the bride and groom stayed virgins until marriage, one would assume they are going to consummate the marriage on the wedding night. So if you have hangups about sex maybe you would be offended seeing two people who are obviously going to have sex for the first time that night? Personally I think you should wear your dress for as long as you want and don't worry about what nosy nellies may assume about your sex life.

I plan to leave the reception in my wedding dress. The only time I've seen a bride change after the reception was when she was helping with the breakdown and packing things up.
