I did it for my first wedding but I gave it a twist to make it fun and palatable. I invited all ladies, married, single, young, old etc. to the dance floor and announced whoever caught the bouquet was taking home a magnum sized bottle of good champagne. There was not one lady left in her seat...

(oh an the song i played during the toss was "Eye of the Tiger" lol)

We're not doing either. I don't know that I've ever been to a wedding with the garter toss, and the last few weddings I've been to with the bouquet toss, there was 0 enthusiasm for it. It was so awkward.

Doing an anniversary dance instead and toss bouquet goes to longest married couple. No garter toss.

We're not! FH hates the whole garter retrieval and toss thing. I hardly have any single friends, all of my non-married friends are either engaged or in long-term relationships. The only single girls at my wedding are going to be my sister and 3 cousins lol.

Lol im glad all of you guys agree. I feel like its tacky. And fetching and throwing a garter is kinda gross. Reminds me off a thong being thrown or something hahaha.

I don't want to, but it may happen anyway. We'll see how the night goes. FH wants a garter toss, so I'll probably end up doing it for continuity purposes. He is not going under my dress, however. lol

We aren't doing either, but I love the idea of an anniversary dance!

We had two bouquets and two garters, and none of them got thrown. No one complained.

I passionately despise both, but especially the bouquet toss. I have yet to see the bouquet toss not end in:

    1. Women fighting

    2. A boob (or 2) falling out

    3. An ungroomed woman in a thong ass to Jesus

    4. A wig or track coming out

ETA: We have quite a few singles, but decided against both.

My florist makes a toss bouquet, and we are giving that to the couple at the reception who has been married the longest. No garter toss.

We still see them at the weddings we do, and we make toss bouquets for many of our brides. I think it's close to the number Wendy C. posted -- about 80% of brides still go for it. I'm so used to seeing it that it just hits me as another silly wedding tradition. I will say what I do find tacky is the groom sticking his head under the bride's gown and coming out with the garter in his teeth. Seriously...her father is watching.

Nope no garter toss. But maybe a bouquet to be given to the longest couple married.

These make me feel awkward and I don't want to do it to anyone else! Not happening at our reception!

No garter toss for me. I do not feel comfortable having my husbands hand up my dress in front of 100 people. As for the toss, I'm going to use my bouquet.
