nj brides where are you getting married? :)

scarlett, on April 23, 2018 at 10:55 AM Posted in New Jersey Planning 1 64

I need more places to explore! Preferably non-traditional places not so much banquet halls. Moreso looking for unique places that are good for November (I put an arbitrary date of November 1 on my profile) We are in North Jersey. Smiley smile

We looked at & loved the Madison Hotel Conservatory but they're only available for lunch and we are not sure yet if we want to commit to that.

We have 4-5 places in Cape May to see this weekend and want to explore a few more options so we aren't just limited to Cape May or the Madison hahaha.

If you're willing to look down south in the cape may area we looked at a bunch of places including

    Camden County Boathouse

    McFaddens Catering at the Lakehouse

    The Carriage House

    Willow Creek Winery

    Renault Winery

Rams Head Inn - We booked here and it has been nothing short of amazing and we feel like we are getting a lot of bang for our buck. Plus our coordinator Erin is just beyond perfect and the food is first rate. 10/10 would 100% recommend.

We are actually looking at the Smithville Inn as well and Ram's Head is pretty close to there! We are def open to South Jersey too. I will check out the other places as well online to see if they look like they can work for our size and budget!! Thanks!

It's going to be tough to find a place for November this late, but you could try Chart House in Weehawken. I know someone who booked a "last-minute" wedding there for last December.

I'm sure you know Nanina's in the Park, and you could look at The Views at Mt. Fiji, which is right over the border in N.Y. There's also the two places in Liberty State Park -- Liberty House and Maritime Parc.

I have a friend who got married at Smithville Inn and her wedding was really nice!! So definitely a cool place to check out.

Rams Head has been amazing to work with and would definitely recommend them. There staff has gone above and beyond for us and they had some of the best food we tasted!

What is your budget? Most of the places we looked at were pretty budget friendly. We are hosting around 130 people for just under 20K total

Yes!! I live up the street from Naninas. Too ballroom-y for me. My fiance loves Mt Fuji but I am not sure if we want to get married there. I love Liberty House, it's beautiful - but for the wedding, we are more into the garden-y. low-key look than something city-related. We love quaint, vintage places like what we can find in Cape May. Just wanted some more options besides that. I appreciate the input!!!

Yeah we are looking to honestly spend a little under $20,000 and have 150 people. We are paying for it ourselves and just bought a house so it's not the priority but we do want to have a big celebration with a lot of people. I'm happy to do a DIY option but all the rental places are like $5000 now and then to bring in food and everything it's going to be just as, if not more, expensive it seems.

I also think anything close to manhattan will be too expensive to be honest. We do love the outdoor space at Nanina's but we have been to SO MANY THINGS there i guess we are just over it.

Oh yeah, I see Nanina weddings on my FB all the time. I've only been to one wedding there and the food was amazing, but yeah, it's just totally cliche.

And now that you've posted your budget, stuff near Manhattan will be way too expensive (we chose to have our wedding in Florida for this reason even though we live in Jersey City and would have loved a city-view wedding).

Also, if you're willing to go to New York, Bear Mountain has a nice, woodsy venue with a cabin-like feel. Since it's a state park, it might be on the cheaper side.

It's gonna be really hard to do that many people for under 20K in NJ - especially if you stay in the NYC area. Since youre in the off season you can maybe do it - especially if you try to keep it on a friday or sunday maybe. If you're trying to stay budget friendly down by the shore I would look at

Rams Head (they have really reasonable off season rates, and that price goes down even more if you book a friday or a sunday. We are having a sunday wedding, and they even allowed us to eliminate a course from the four course dinner to save some money) I will say that for RHI our totaly for 130 people is around 13K but that includes all food, alcohol, ceremony space, linens, private use of the facility for the day, the DOC and some other things.

The Carriage House - They include A LOT so that can be helpful

Stockton Seaview - they had a good off season package if I remember correctly

Renault Winery - I'm not sure what the off season rates look like for them but they were decently priced. Plus since its a winery the wine is included and you can save money by doing only beer and wine open bar as an option.

McFaddens Catering at Lakehouse - really well priced and its really lovely. I had a friend get married here last november ( I was not at the wedding)and it looked beautiful in pictures. plus the catering was super well priced though I have no idea about taste.

If you like Liberty House, the same people also own The Ryland Inn. They will probably be similar in price. That's where we are getting married.

Yes! I LOVE Bear Mountain. I love the carousel space but doesn't fit our capacity. I can check out the inn itself. I feel like i looked for my cousin and it was too small for her but she had a few more people than i do.

I totally know. i used to do wedding planning as a full time job about 8 years ago and did ton of DIY weddings with brides, but a lot of my rental vendors and great low-cost caterers went out of business since then so I would really have to start fresh on that front. I do have great DJ and Photo contacts. So i know that it's beyond difficult for that price, especially in Nov where a lot of outside pavilion type places are off-limits (but my fiance's work schedule revolves around baseball so I really can't do it in any warm weather months anyawy haha)

We are hoping Nov has off-season rates at a lot of places so that could be helpful and are totally open to daytime discounts and Beer/Wine/Soda/Champagne bars too. Our only concern with going to Cape May or something is that we don't want to expect people to travel 2+ hours and then serve them 2 crackers and a beer. haahah

I am giong to call Rams Head now since we will be in the area to see the Smithville Inn and also check out the others Smiley smile

It is definitely pricey. I'm now seeing your budget up there. I'm not sure of exact numbers because I was really focused on spring dates, but there's a good chance that it's too much. It's sort of ridiculous actually. I love it but I'm appalled at how much it costs.

I totally get that! All the places I mentioned had off day/season discounts versus daytime so you could still have a lovely evening wedding and get a good discounted rate!!

We wanted a small 50-60 person wedding and are on a tight budget. We're having ours at The Majestic Hotel in Ocean Grove, NJ (next to Asbury Park). Its a Victorian style inn and our guests can also book rooms onsite. Our ceremony will be on the beach, 4 doors down. Then a cocktail hour and a 3 course seated dinner and cake all included. We're excited as we were having a really hard time finding both affordable and a place that would take under 75/100 people.

I love the Majestic! SO SO lovely! I really love Ocean Grove/Asbury Park myself too but it seems like all the places are a little smaller for my wedding size. Except maybe the Asbury or the Berkeley but I think i might be priced out of them. Haha!

I love the area though, beautiful choice!

I'm getting married at Mountain Creek! It's in northern NJ, but a bit more west so it's MUCH more reasonably priced than a lot of the places closer to the city. November is also off-peak there, so you might be looking at under or around $20k! I was looking for something different but still gorgeous as well, and this totally fit the bill.

If you're willing to look a little north into NY, FEAST at Round House is super affordable and pretty.
