My now fiancé Dominik and I just got engaged about two weeks ago..my soon to be MIL is already hounding me about venues and such. We are looking for something not to elegant because that’s not what reflects our personalities., we are thinking maybe a brewery or a rooftop venue. Nothing to expensive. Anyone have any suggestions? Or have experience planning something similar? We’d like to keep it close to the city we live in, Raleigh, NC

I'm getting married at the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Gardens . It's about an hour and a half from Raleigh! The gardens are gorgeous and add all the outdoor decor you need! They have a ballroom if you wanna "class it up," but there's a patio reception area for a peaceful, relaxed setting.

We're getting married at the Laurelbrook! It's not on here, but if you google it, you'll find it quickly. There's also a brewing company right there; I think Big Boss.

My fiancé and I did end up touring the Laurelbrook and although we liked what we saw we decided for what we wanted it just wasn’t for us, but the space was lovely and has a lot of potential
