What did you spend? I'm just curious.

I guess prices are really dependent on the region. I'm not in a major city by a long shot so I think things are priced much lower here. I know in the closest major city prices are about 25-35% more easily, but that is still a very small city compared to a lot of US major cities. I'm from little Atlantic Canada, I don't think we know the true definition of a 'major city' here.

This is why we chose a party hall over a banquet hall, even if we had that kind of $ I wouldn't spend that on a wedding. Nope not happening.

We're in NYC and we'll spend about $150 pp before tax/tip/service fee. That includes cocktail hour with passed appetizers, buffet dinner (FH loves a buffet!), and full open bar. The site fee is separate.

I am in upstate New York and our venue is $105 a plate. That was the cheapest out of the places we looked that hit all of our requirements- includes open bar, catering and cake. We also do not need to rent anything.

Yup. Cheapest I saw (of places I liked) while still looking in NYC was $150, not including tax, service fees or gratuity. Places I loved but couldn't afford were between $200-$350. And that's why we're getting married in Charleston, lol.

I'm in Upstate NY and we are paying $75 per person (before tax/tip) for food and open bar. It was one of the best rates we found at the more upscale venues. But $75-$125 seemed about average in this area.

I'm in South Florida and I am paying $126PP ... this is all inclusive tho. 5 hours of top shelf open bar , 4 food stations, cocktail hour, appetizers, cake (yes cake is included), linens, napkins, plates, silverware and soft drinks. (We got lucky the resort is pretty much the same colors as our wedding colors lol so their linen was perfect!)

This is a highly regional discussion, and it's also dependent on food and service quality.

The last time we went out to a nice dinner, with a cocktail, wine, apps, entree, dessert and coffee it was over 100.00 per person....something to consider when you formulate that guest list...

3 signature drinks, 6 passed hors ‘doeuvres, 4 Course Dinner, Plated or passed desserts, Coffee Station comes to $161 per person plus tax and 23% administrative fees. Ceremony fee of $1500 plus $300 for valet. 5 hour total... I guess this is a good rate? Considering it's New York.

Amada: Sounds pretty good to me, where's your wedding going to be? Does that not include any type of bar package though?

That sounds about right Amada, for IN NYC. Though....it's not really prime season, even though it is leap year! Are you set on your venue? I know that many of my NJ venues are significantly less in Jan-March.....

We're at an all inclusive hall with premium open bar 5 hour reception and including plus plus (tax & gratuity) its $125/pp

We were actually soo surprised at how low our venue was, given how great it is and how robust our menu & everything we get in our package. I will say that we did book in 2014 so I dont know what they charge now, but Im sure it's gone up. Its a very popular venue here.

@ Amada, that sounds decent for NYC. Are you getting any discounts for off season? If not, I would ask.

@Jade, what's your venue if you don't mind me asking? I couldn't find anything that came with that much for anywhere that price range.

That's about the same price we were getting in long island. You can find lower but, it would depend on what your looking for and what you're willing to do without. I do feel its a bit high for February, you could probably find another place for $125-135pp. Also, you must check to see what your minimum is. Most people will tell you to cut the guest list but in NYC the venue will require at least a 100 person minimum.

We got lucky. FH and I were looking for an old vintage feel and we found a place starting at $85-95 in May, that's with cocktail hr, 4 course meal and liquor. We will not be popping out of the ground or have ceiling to floor chandeliers but, we get a whole house for ourselves and we'll be the only wedding that day.

You might find cheaper but, it will take a lot of researching and sacrifice.

I'm in Upstate NY--near Albany. Prices here range from $85-200 per plate. After taxes we are spending about $95 per plate.

Thank you thank you thank you!!! And yes most of the venues required a min of 100 persons but I'm sure 75-100 is the norm.

I was outside Philly and I was closer to $150 per plate- so I'd be surprised if you found a place that would do anything less than $200 per plate.
