New York rates... $100-$200 per person?

Amada, on September 17, 2015 at 2:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 63

What did you spend? I'm just curious.

    Per plate? That's about right.

Geez, if this is per plate I'm getting a steal at my venue.

If it's per plate, in NYC, 100 PP is very low with tax and service. Think more like 150-300.

Holy hell. I knew regionally it varied and NYC would be high, but 150-300 O.O I'm blown away.

Oh my goodness, even if I cut my guest lift in half I don't think I could afford that. Does that include all food and drinks? For me it worked out to be about $68 per person. That includes 3 course meal, appetizers during cocktail hour, and late night snack. Admittedly we aren't doing an open bar, but rather providing 2 bottles of wine per table. I imagine with a full bar it would be more, but probably not beyond $100.

    It's nyc.....it costs 60 bucks to park.....

Even in NJ, where I am, it's difficult to find a nice venue under 100, with T and S....

A lot of the venues I looked into started at $150 pp before tax and gratuity. The open bar was included for some but not others.

I feel so silly for stressing over my budget now. I knew it would cost more in NYC, but I'm blown away.

For all inclusive we couldn't find anything under $130, and that's outside of Philly. I'm more surprised by the $68pp lol.

Is this supposed to include site rental fees or is it just for food and alcohol?

eta: i am outside of boston and bringing everything in so my food is $40pp plus $10pp for the alcohol but if you add everything i am spending and dividing it pp then i am near $120pp

eta2: i would totally have expected $200pp for NYC

Ours wasn't an all inclusive package, but all offered at the venue. I just looked at our total and divided to get the per person rate. There are downsides to it being cheaper though I guess, I was talking on another thread about how we only have one meal option (other than vegetarian), but that seems pretty insignificant now that I know how much of a deal we're getting.

I am a New York bride also! And our budget was blown the second we started looking for a venue here in nyc! It's totally crazy it hurts my heart Almost, if it wasn't because I totally would regret not having a wedding I would just pick an amazing honeymoon and save the money for a down payment on a house

I would have had to elope to Mexico or something. Lol we paid about $1500, for 34 people for apps, filet or walleye dinner, cake, drinks, linens, and the room...but it was a restaurant.

After tax, gratuity, food, booze, and all the other random things. I'm at about $150-160 pp. Don't forget on top of the food booze you also have tax. For me tax and gratuity are 29%. Good times :-/

Are people really blown away by $100pp? That is low from my perspective. Most major cities are well beyond $100pp now. That was more like the price 10 years ago. Now $150pp plus is the norm. I can easily see the norm for NYC at $200-$300pp since it is such an expensive city.

Yeah I agree that that $150-300 sounds about right with service, tax and gratuity. NJ is a little better which is part of the reason we choose it over Brooklyn or Manhattan. Hell most of the venues cost $5000+ just to use it without including catering and that's often without rentals. Total price shock when I first started looking. I agree with Staci that when I hear other brides say $30-$75 per person, it shocks me. I wish NyC was like that.
