New England wedding under 20,000 with everything included

laura, on April 24, 2015 at 10:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

I am newly engaged and just started looking for venues. I was curious to see if anyone knows it is possible to have a wedding in Massachusetts or Northern Rhode Island 20,000 with everything included. When I say everything I mean Venue, food, photographer, dj, florist. I know there aren't many places, if any, that do it all as a package so that's not what I'm trying to figure out. I plan on hiring separate vendors for each aspect. I have seen some places that have a 22,000 food minimum and unfortunately that's just not possible for us. Is there anyone on this site who has pulled this off? What venue in the area did you choose? Who did you use for vendors? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much!

How many people do you have? Are you willing to have it on a Sunday? I got married in the river room at latitude 41 in mystic connecticut with the mystic river right behind it it was the perfect New England venue. It doesn't come with the DJ or photographer but if you do it on a Sunday it's cheaper. You could also look into zukas farm or Harrington farm, they're both near central mass and not too expensive. You could also look into Watchusett mountain. My wedding budget was 20k and all these places were right around my budget (even after I got a photographer and stuff) for 90 people. And I honestly think all inclusive venues are such a better deal.

We're in Northern RI and plan to spend under $20K. Our venue is a camp so we'll be bringing in our own bar and caterer. Look for places that allow outside catering, maybe? The only drawback is it'll be very DIY and you have to factor in all the rentals you'll need. Why style venue do you have in mind? I've worked for years in events in this area, so I might have a few suggestions.

I think we would consider a sunday wedding but ultimately would prefer Saturday night, which I know is a stretch for the budget. My first choice was the Smith barn at Brooksby Farms in Peabody but they are completely booked through 2016. A rough estimate of the venue and vendors came in at just around 22000 which was doable. A barn wedding is what I was looking for originally but I'm open to different styles as long as we like it! Ideally the distance would be an hour or less from both providence AND boston since we have people coming from both places as well as in between. Thanks again!

I'd honestly look at a different date. September is prime time and no one is going to deal.

Sundays will be less, Fridays will be less.

My best friend for married last November. The ceremony was at the Catholic church in southie and the reception was in east Boston at spinellis ballroom. Everything was included and I think they came in well under their 20k budget.

I'm in CT and our wedding will be just under $20,000 for 70 people. Keep looking. It took me a while to find a venue I loved in my budget, but finally did. How many people do you want to have, that will make a big difference?

It can definitely be done if you manage the size of your guest list. I'm in CT, so probably not much help with specific venues, but we're around $15K for 80ish people, and I don't feel like we really had to skimp on anything we wanted.

Have you considered a restaurant? They typically don't have minimums or venue rentals, so long as you are buying their food. Depending on the size of your wedding, you could either take over the whole restaurant, or use a private room.

Harrington Farm is BEAUTIFUL. I grew up near there, it's up on the side of Mt. Wachusett and the reception area looks like a barn (sort of rustic-y, but beautiful). There was a Four Weddings wedding there once. The ceremony space is nice too-outside with a pond. The only thing is that they had a minimum of 120 guests. We ultimately decided not to do it there because of the minimum and because I've been to several events there (my parents and grandparents had anniversary celebrations there) and we wanted something different for our wedding. I highly recommend it if it's in the budget--it's probably an hour from Boston, straight out along Route 2 and then a short drive along back roads.

We got married on a Friday night in September in central MA and I believe we were probably came in right around $20,000 with everything included and for around 130 guests. Our venue was Wachusett Mountain Ski Area which I would highly recommend- the planner there worked with us to pick bar options that would save us money. I think it fits the rustic feel, while being something a little different from a barn or farm. We ordered our flowers through Costco which saved a ton and much of our decor was DIY or given to us by friends. Check out my reviews for venue, photographer, and DJ if you'd like!

We got married at the Holiday Inn Mansfield (MA). They have a great package that would cover everything expect photography and wedding party floral (as long as you have 125 people). Unless they have changed, there is no difference in price no matter what day of the week (or even time of the year). Plus as its a hotel, you get your room the night of the wedding for free and they will block off rooms for you. (DH and I had 90 people and a $10,000 budget and with appetizers we were still within budget).

I'm thinking 110 people max. I hadn't considered Wachusett mountain but I will be checking it out. A saturday night is one aspect we are ok with paying a little more for. I looked at the harrington farm website...it was either too far away or the minimum was too high. Thanks everyone! Your suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I was going to suggest Wachusett as well. We're doing a Girl Scout camp in Southern RI, but I know Girl Scouts of Eastern MA has a bunch of properties they might rent. There are also a couple of venues on the RI/MA line near Blackstone and Woonsocket that have really affordable packages and nice country-style vibes. I can't remember the names off the top of my head, but try Googling that area.

FYI, if Harrington Farm is too far, Wachusett probably is too. They're pretty close. I think Wachusett would be beautiful for a fall wedding though!

Hi! I was wondering if you would mind letting me know the name of the camp? We're looking to do a camp wedding for around 120 guest in the same area!

Camp Hoffman, it’s a Girl Scout camp and you can reserve it through GSSNE.
