Negotiations with venues

Becky, on December 5, 2019 at 9:50 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7
As a last hope we’ve started looking for other venues that we may be able to afford with what’s left in our savings rather than outright cancel/postpone the wedding. We are 3 months out and I’m wondering if anyone has had any luck negotiating prices of venues? I was thinking of asking if they may be able to match a Sunday price for a Saturday wedding?

Hmm that’s a tough one.. ive never heard of it unless it’s close to the date and maybe they had a cancellation— I guess it just depends on the venue !! Try it !!

Some venues do give a major discount for last minute booking (I think 3 months is pretty last minute when it comes to wedding) if not all of their dates are not filled up yet. You can ask them if they have any date that’s not filled yet and negotiate. Works best if you are flexible with the date

    Hey there, Becky!

How large is your guest list? One of the main places you can cut down on the overall cost of a wedding is the guest list, as the number of guests has a knock-on effect on catering costs, bar costs, rentals, etc. If it’s an intimate wedding, you could have it at a venue like a restaurant!

Yes, we negotiated with our venue. Matching a Saturday price with a Sunday price will be a tough battle though. With our venue, there were 3 levels of packages. We negotiated adding all the items we wanted from the highest package to the middle package--- and keeping the price of the middle package. I think it's partially because we are having around 250 guests so it's a large wedding- that tends to help with negotiations.

Your best bet will be to find a venue that offers a discount for last minute bookings. Being 3 months out, most venues will already be booked. If you find a venue that is not, I would ask if they offer a last minute booking discount and see what they say. Many would rather give a discount than risk going unbooked that date.
