Needed - 1 ukulele player!

Marahp, on January 12, 2017 at 12:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Trying not to freak out here, but my ceremony musicians canceled on my yesterday! I just wanted one ukulele player to play me down the aisle. I found a group of them and thought great, the more the merrier! They have been really hard to communicate with and yesterday I got a FB message from one of them saying the logistics was going to be too hard for them and they needed to cancel. I should have know I was in trouble when they didn't ask for a deposit. Now I am trying to find an alternative and can't find any ukulele players in FL! Nothing on wedding wire vendor tab, googled the heck out of it and the closest one I can find is hundreds of miles away. Anyone randomly know a ukulele player in FL panhandle area? One issue is their isn't electric on the beach I am getting married at or we would just going the recording route. I guess a battery powered sound system is an option. No clue where to start with that though! Any suggestions?

Ask your other vendors -- they may know of someone.

I know of at least 2 in my area, but that doesn't help.

If you have those garage sale type pages in your area I'd post there. I went to high school with at least 3 ukulele players so I wouldn't think it would be too hard to find one.

ETA: If there's a college in that area maybe see if there's a student Facebook page and post there.

Thanks everyone! I will post and ad and check out the local schools. To further complicate things we do not live in the area, about 1k miles away actually - so the leg work and person/person networking I can do is a little more limiting.

I agree with checking universities. My alma mater has a ukelele club.

You could start emailing guitarists ... many of them play uke as well.
