Need Wedding Timeline Advice for Tea Ceremony/Western Ceremony

Diem, on June 27, 2017 at 7:57 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Hi there! I just need some timeline advice - the wedding planner(s) that I've been looking at has no prior experience with doing both a tea ceremony and western ceremony.

Simply put, we are planning for more of a wedding 'weekend' - separating the two ceremonies into two different days. The tea ceremony is at my parents' home, while the western ceremony and reception is both at the same venue, an hour away from my parent's home.

Saturday - Vietnamese tea ceremony at 12am, lunch with at 1pm, rehearsal and rehearsal dinner at 6pm

Sunday - Western ceremony at 4pm, Cocktail hour at 5pm, Dinner and dancing at 6-10pm

ALTERNATIVELY... I've been wondering if we should move it all to one day? Would it be too hectic or rushed? Suggested timeline if so? Thank you so much!

I'm having a tea ceremony too!! We're choosing to do ours the day after the wedding, mostly because the day of would feel too rushed. My fiance's cousin had hers the day of the wedding, and it was such a long, exhausting day. I vote the day after and rest after your wedding Smiley smile

I've only ever seen the tea ceremony on the same day and agree that even as a guest it is still an exhausting day. It's actually one of the reasons we decided not to have one. I think it's a great idea to split the two ceremonies up.

I am doing a Vietnamese/ American style wedding in one day. It's going to be long and annoying but easiest for me and my fiancé.

    5:30am wakeup

    6-8:30am Hair / Makeup

8:30-12pm Tea Ceremony / Brunch (family only)

    12-1pm Church

    1-3pm Photos

    3-5pm Napping

    5-10 Reception

Passing out and sleeping for the rest of the week.

Diem, what did your timeline end up being? I am also thinking about doing the tea ceremony the day before the western ceremony. Instead of having lunch and a break, I am thinking light Viet appetizers then straight to the rehearsal/rehearsal dinner.

    Hi Rose!

We ended up having a lunch after the tea ceremony. There was a lot of food involved in the ceremony itself so it was served to all the guests. We actually had our rehearsal the next morning, it only took about 10 minutes. We didn't have a rehearsal dinner. I suggest getting a good planner that can cover both! My planner didn't really understand the tea ceremony.
