Need to lose at least 2 inches in waist/undergarment

Dayla, on January 30, 2018 at 12:18 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22
No unnecessary rude comments please:

So when I ordered my dress, I ordered a size smaller in hopes it would force me to take my eating healthier seriously...well my dress is in and I haven’t lost the 2 inches from my waist. It’s a ball gown so she said the only inches I need to shed were the 2 in my waist for it fit. Has anyone used a “waist trainer” or corset that took them in 2 inches or more?? I’ve heard of people doing wraps and losing that quickly I’m just kicking myself right now for doing that.
Basically looking for any suggestions on types of undergarments others have used under their gown to bring in their waist some.

    Have you tried spanx? I know a lot of people that use them and that could help!

    You still have time to lose the 2 inches. Waste trainers are really bad for you and while the wraps might work for some I wouldn't bet on it. You should look into spanx like Sydney said.

    Definitely look into spanx or really make an effort to lose the two inches. You still have plenty of time to do that.

    Start small. Start walking like 10,000 steps a day, eat more fruits and veggies and less processed food. The two inches will come off.

    You still have a while before your wedding. I think if you focus on cleaner eating habits and exercise, 2 inches around the waist is doable.

    You still have some time until September, so I wouldn't give up hope yet. HAVE you been eating healthier, as you hoped, or could you do better? If you can do it healthily and safely, you may be able to meet your goal. You also can maybe add a corset back to your gown to give yourself a little extra room.

    Other brides, take a lesson from this! It will be so much easier to take a gown in if you do lose weight than to deal with this.

    I dont think anyone would give you rude comments on this subject btw. Its tough for most of us. Spanx is a good option. You have a few more months until your wedding so i think you should continue to try to lose the 2 inches before your final fitting. I've used a waist trainer on the daily and its uncomfortable as "h e double hockeysticks". It definitely doesnt work alone. The wraps encourage sweating which is why it works for many people. If you workout or just add extra walking into your daily schedule you could purchase a more comfortable waist trainer by Sweet Sweat. I forget the name of it but it wraps around your belly, way more comfortable and encourages you to sweat. Furthermore a poor diet, may restrict all the progress you get from the sweating. Increase your water and limit your carbs (bread, cookies), sugar (soda, juice) and it may help you see a difference quicker. You don't have to do a hardcore diet but small changes definitely help.

    You have 8 months until your wedding (if the date on here is correct). Diet and exercise and you should be able to lose the weight (depending on how much you actually have to lose).

    If you aren't able to lose the weight can you ask your seamstress to alter the dress to a corset, if it isn't already a corset?

    I wouldn't recommend any sort of waist trainer or corset. They can be really bad for your organs, can limit your ability to breathe and get oxygen to your vital organs, and prolonged use can cause your back muscles to atrophy. Spanx are a good option for the day of, they can bring you in quite a but but aren't as extreme as a waist trainer. How much time do you have? Can your dress be let out at all? Is there still time for you to lose some weight?

    I'm sorry you're in this situation, I won't say anything about ordering a dress too small because I know you're already kicking yourself.

    No, waist trainers and wraps are unhealthy, and there's absolutely no scientific evidence that they have any actual benefits.

    You have 8 months, I think with a healthy diet and exercise you can easily lose 2 inches in that time. You just have to be diligent. Low carbs, lots of greens, lots of water.

    Drink water like a fish! You “should” drink half your weight in ounces of water per day.

    140lbs= 70ozs water
    180lbs = 90ozs water

    Update: I called about picking up my dress next week. I was under the impression once i went to pick it up, I started my fittings then. She explained that they don’t recommend starting fittings until 3 months from the wedding. I feel SO much better now and confident I can do this in that time the right way.

    Thanks for all the helpful comments and encouragement!

    What I have done in the past - used a tanktop, sweatsuit and a hoodie and ran my life away. Cardio is the best way to trim the inches.

    Yep! Slow and steady -- you have plenty of time to do this right. If you have trouble with motivation and/or aren't sure about healthy choices, maybe consider something like Weight Watchers. You may be very pleasantly surprised at how much you can change your habits and feel better in a relatively short amount of time. (I'm a 30+ yr WW lifetimer, so I know it can work! Smiley winking ) Good luck!

    Those body wraps just help you shed any water weight you've been retaining. And they sell them in conjunction to the entire cleanse system they advertise as an attempt to get you into their direct marketing scheme. It's a good way to lose 5 lbs over night, but you aren't going to keep it off for more than a couple days.

    You have plenty of time. 2 inches is really just 15-20 lbs. The best thing you can do is make small changes to your eating habits to make them healthier (substitute beef for chicken breast and ground turkey, cut out things that make you retain water like sugars and alcohol), exercise regularly (doesn't have to be anything crazy, just go walking for half an hour a few times a week), and consider drinking whey protein as a meal replacement once a day since it helps you burn fat and gives you energy.

    Also a good pair of legit full body Spanx will suck you in at least an inch. You don't need to get your dress fitted until this summer. Focus on losing 1 pound a week and you'll be there in no time.

    Ok this might not be an exact answer but I hope my experience helps. The good news is you have time! I had my baby in 2016 and swore I’d be back to my size zero self in a few months. FF to now and yup... def did not lose the weight so I’m in the same boat for my dress. You’ve already heard from so many, the waist trainers and wraps aren’t magic, they really can’t help. My biggest issue has been accountability. Just this morning I slept in instead of going to the gym lol. So my mom has become my accountability partner. She’s one person who can be “mean” to me and I won’t get mad at her. So with all the advice you get, find someone who and be your weight dictator who you love so much you’ll never eat mad at!

    Yay! You can totally manage to reduce in that time! I am plus size and lost 12 lbs in less than a month just by clean eating,.,,cutting sugar/processed flour, eating lots of veggies and green smoothies, lean meat etc. I didn’t count calories but I’m sure by loading up on healthy food I ate less than normal. Between that and walking, I’m sure you can do it.

    On your special day I wouldn't want the restriction and uncomfortable feeling of a waist cincher, spanx, etc. They can be very uncomfortable which will be a distraction.

    I would eat right. Get some good cardio in. Maybe look into a juice fast or something. You got this lady! Good luck.
