Need to have a tooth extracted- 2 weeks before wedding- crying

Jacklyn, on August 6, 2015 at 2:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

I had a root canal done when I was in high school- the dentist told me a month ago that this year I should look into getting the root canal redone- as the filling is not as full as they prefer to do them today. This week I started getting really bad pains in my ear, sinuses and jaw- I was praying it was a sinus infection (who prays for that!). Today I went to the dentist and I cracked the tooth... they need to pull it. I can't eat or sleep right now so I cannot wait until I get back from honeymoon. The oral surgeon said there is a chance my face could still be bruised and swollen. I'm literally in tears- plus that is an extra grand I didn't have right as all my balances are due.

The good news is that I'm being put on a liquid diet this weekend- so there goes that last couple of pounds.

Any positivity you can send my way would be greatly appreciated.

My husband had a tooth extracted and the swelling only lasted a couple of days. He didn't have bruising.

Get it done. Once the pain is over, you'll be so happy. If you don't the abcess could get worse and you would need a bone graft.

Get that thing pulled! Hopefully you won't have any bruising and you'll be able to eat again without pain!

I had 3 wisdom teeth removed in may and other than some slight swelling the first few days my face was fine. I had a very minor bruise along my chin but that's something that could easily be edited out. I was also back to eating solid food (very carefully) on day 5. Don't worry too much.

The dentist office that I work at uses Care Credit and it's fantastic! You can get 18 months of interest-free payments.

Unfortunately this is one of those things that you can't do anything else to help you except to get the tooth out. The swelling will go down after 2-3 days though for sure, just make sure you go in the next few days so it can stop causing you pain!!! Good luck girl Smiley smile

The good thing is once it is pulled your pain will go away and like you said liquid diet=last few pounds gone!

Follow their instructions very carefully for recovery and use ice on it to help with the swelling. If it is only one tooth you shouldn't have too much bruising and swelling and it should dissipate by your wedding day.

It's going to be fine. I've had all of this done, and most of the time, the most painful part is the anticipation. I can't even imagine having two weeks of repercussions after an extracted tooth.

Ice (or frozen peas or corn) is your friend. It's going to be fine!

You will be so happy when the pain is gone!

Listen to Celia and use ice packs and the swelling will be gone in no time.

Do it as soon as you can. When I got all 4 wisdom teeth out at the same time, I was only swollen for a week.

Thanks for all the support ladies!! I'm looking forward to the tooth and pain being gone after today, but nervous about the close proximity to the wedding. At least it wasnt the week of my wedding.. and I should hopefully drop a couple more pounds before the wedding- no more stress eating.

Yes, do it now! I had an infected wisdom tooth taken (and I was scared so I waited) and it eventually gave me flu like symptons ( you don't want that on your wedding day or on the honey moon!) even with my VERY infected wisdom tooth, my face was 100% back to normal within 1 week (probably sooner). Good luck!
