Need suggestions for cheap rehearsal dinner in Dallas area

Becky, on May 23, 2014 at 10:53 AM Posted in Planning 0 16

We are having Mexican food at the wedding so it can't be Mexican, but I am looking for a restaurant with a private room and low cost. Buca di Beppo has come up on a lot of sites and I have not checked with them yet because I worry it will be too expensive. If anyone has used them and can comment on that let me know. But I was thinking either barbecue or more of a local non-chain restaurant would probably offer a better deal so if anyone has suggestions let me know! Doesn't have to be in Dallas proper; most of us live in the suburbs north of Dallas anyway.

How much is your budget. I'm from Dallas, but not knowing how much you want to spend for the entire meal I can't really help you. We're paying around $400 for 18 people at our rehearsal dinner (Macaroni Grill). We don't have a private room, but for the rehearsal we weren't to worried about that. A lot of times private rooms will have a food minimum so if you're on a budget those might not work for you.

Ceremony and reception at Texas Discovery Gardens at Fair Park. Blue Mesa is one of their preferred vendors so we were probably going to use them, but have not booked yet. If that ends up changing I will look into El Fenix

Yeah someone's house might be the best bet. Mine is small, my inlaws think theirs is too small but maybe we could talk them into it. My mom lives in an apt. I think we do need a private room or to do it in a home because FH's family is so big and most coming from out of town, so I'm guessing around. 40 people. I don't have a set budget; I know I should but basically the way I do things is just try to find the best deal that is an acceptable level of quality and then go with that.

As for question about cost of my venue-- I think it's a good deal. You can bring your own alcohol so you can save money that way which is why I looked into it. The fees for reserving the ballroom etc are posted on their website. I am doing a Friday night wedding so it's $1500.

You could always just do pizza if you're crunched for money. When we were looking at rehearsal dinner venues most private rooms started at around $1,000 for a private room. The room minimum for our reception is $3,350 and that's a private room (Del Frisco's). Their cheapest room was $2,900. We're having a smaller wedding, so we're not inviting out of town guests to the dinner since we just want to honor those who had to attend the rehearsal.

We are also in the Dallas and we are serioously considering Picasso's... they have a private room, no charge and the options can be as low as 9.99 per person (including soft drinks) or up to $14.99 per person... the latter includes 3 types of pizza and 3 pastas, 2 salads, soft drinks set up in their private room on a buffet. They also have a private tv that you can display a video or slideshow on, linens for the table and you can come several hours early to decorate. They can do a private bar tab for each guest or you can set a liquor max and once guest reach that they they let you know.... hope this helps!

They gave me a quote for about $2500 for 150 people but it depends on what you order..... You can actually see their catering prices on their website too so check them out.

We are having ours at Spring Creek Barbeque because they have a private room to reserve and it's not crazy expensive. Plus, usually everyone can find something they like to eat there.

I used to work at the Hard Rock Café there, and the décor is more sleek and modern than other cafes and their Sales & Marketing staff will work with you to create a menu tailored to your budget.
