Need ideas on how to display the seating chart!

Kayla, on January 11, 2018 at 11:54 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
Ok so what are some cost effective ways to create and display the seating chart for a plated dinner? I’d prefer less DIY involved but if it’s easy I think I can manage!

We just ordered place cards for the tables and had them displayed both on the tables as well as on the table where the guestbook was so they find their name and it says table B seat 4 they go and find their place at the table and we have the kitchen the seatingchart printed out with their menu choice or allergy information

Seating charts either have to be sent out for printing a week or so before the wedding, or you have to set aside some time yourself to do it. If you have to make changes, depending on how extensive, you can have to do the whole thing over again.

Rather than do one complete chart for the whole wedding on a window, mirror etc, you can print separate pages and display those. If you have to make changes you can usually get away with making changes to only one sheet.

Escort cards are easier because you can make them up ahead of time and last minute changes are easy to accommodate. You don't have to assign seats, just tables.

Ok so how does the caterer know what entree choice was selected for each guest if I go with escort cards? I thought I needed a seating arrangement and have that provided to the caterer so they knew who gets which entree. Thanks for your help!

I plan to do escort cards on a table. Guests will grab their name and go to their assigned table.

ETA: You can add the meal choice on the escort card with a color, symbol or text...

There are dozens of ideas on how to indicate entree choice on PInterest. You can use a stamp, a colored jewel, different colors of cards or ink, different color ribbon or other trim- whatever works with your decor.

I’m asking my venue what is easier, a chart or escort cards. You can do a chart and have escort cards at each table but then you’re assigning seats not tables which is harder.

You can differentiate entrees with colored fonts or a sticker on their card or something like that

Thank you all so much! I had no idea about escort cards 😬 I just assumed there were seat assignments. I’m relieved to not have to come up with a seating chart!!

Escort cards are not placed at the table. They are displayed at the entrance and can assign only tables, not seats.

You are thinking of place cards, which are found at the table in front of each place setting.

We are having each persons name carved in wood and it will be placed at their seat. We are doing one long table for our 30 guests.
