Need ideas!!! No photo booth..

Jessica, on June 6, 2016 at 9:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 26

My fiancé and I really want to do a photo booth but we can't afford it. Does anyone have any ideas that would be fun in place of a photo booth? Any ideas are GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks!!

Have you looked into how much they are? I want one but have no idea. I'm still a year out.

It depends on your location. The one we were going to get is 500 for 3 hours. Which isn't bad but I don't know if I'm willing to spend it if I can find other ways to do pictures. The other photo booths are way more than that.

You can setup your own area. I had friends do it with a camera on a tripod or a spot for you to put your phone and set the selfie timer.. either way a cool backdrop area can easily be made with some fabric.

Selfie sticks are cheap...you can put them at every table for the guests to take pics

I'm assuming she has looked into it if she says she cannot afford it, @Cara Smiley smile Mine is $680, but I've seen girls mentioning their photobooth being $500 or so. I don't think I've seen anything lower than $500.

I don't think a photobooth is required, OP! So I don't think you need to "replace" it. You could do fun, edible favors instead? That could be a good takehome gift. Like a cake pop or a heart shaped chocolate with your names.

    Also.. check Groupon or LivingSocial

I've seen offers for photo booths on both.

Yeah I was debating whether or not to do it myself - make my own backdrop and all that but I really just don't know if I'm crafty enough to pull it off. Ha

Here's great DIY project if you're handy!!!! ...

Make a photo wall that your guests can use with their phones, create a hashtag, and gather their images. I've been to a few weddings that did this instead of a photobooth. I prefer a photobooth because you pay to have the work done for you and the guests and yourself leave with an immediate "take away". BUT, this DIY photowall can be the next best thing. Make sure it's located in an area that will have natural light and that the line of guests waiting to use it does not block traffic. Below is an image of one. Huge hit.

Well, I didn't know if she just assumed they would be expensive.

You don't have to do anything in its place? I'm not a fan of them so I am not having one

Alcohol mixed with a banging DJ will take care of the fun. I'm skipping the photo booth FYI.

Maybe buy a Polaroid camera and have someone take them? Then after the wedding keep the camera for your honey moon?

We are having a caricature artist instead of a photo booth, but we also have a small guest list.

I agree with the caricature idea, I've heard that guests love it and it doubles as a favor.

I saw this idea on Pinterest and my FH and I are considering a version of this for our wedding. You can always find fun stuff at your local dollar store in terms of props for fun pics. Our idea was to have a digital camera set up and focused on the frame so guests could just come up and have a blast taking fun photos of themselves and then we would have all of the pics of them. And we will just post them to a website where everyone can access them.

I'm thinking about doing it like an old fashion photo booth, where only 1-3 people can go in at a time and it's kind of private, and set up an iPad or something in addition to a camera so people can leave video messages-advice, favorite memories or whatever

Im just making my own photo booth. People wont be able to print the pictures out, but most people take pics on their phones anyway. Im also using the ww photo app (the name escapes me right now) so people can tag their smartphone pictures to our page, then we can all just scroll through the photos and see everything. Get some cheap accessories from the dollar store, hang up some fun fabric as a backdrop and youre good to go.

You can do a 'selfie station' instead with a fun background (it would just have to be on the wall, not all the way to the ground) and some cute props.
