need ideas for ceremony music/speaker system for iPod

Libellule, on June 29, 2009 at 3:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

SO I'm trying to find some sort of music/speaker system that I can hook my ipod up to and have a couple sets of speakers (some from front and some for back) to play ceremoney music on outdors at beach. Preferably they would be able to operate off of batteries...??? Anyone have any ideas for this?

Thanks all!!

I know you can get wireless speakers for your Ipods..try here:

    http://www.nextag.com/wireless-speakers-for-ipod/compare-html

they seem kinda pricey but the source by circut city in canada advertises them for like $99 a set..I think you can even get water proof ones so you can keep them for out side

You can always rent a sound system (or hire a DJ to do it for you), and then have it run off of a generator. There are many new generators out there that are quiet and won't distract the ceremony.

    Hi Libellule,

Roland Company makes a battery operated amplifier called a "Mobile Cube" which works pretty well and can be used with a plug in device. It runs about $200.00 I believe. You can also rent sound systems but why not consider live music! Most musicians provide their own sound. I know I bring a battery operated amp to every ceremony I perform. If you are using a DJ, I expect they, too might be able to provide sound for your ceremony.

    Best wishes,

I have a sound system for the reception as well as an emcee but I do not want live music for my ceremony as I already have the 3 songs I want for the whole shebang picked out. I could probably just burn them to a cd and use a boom box but was looking for a good iPod stereo/speaker system to keep anyway.

Grab this and then sell it on ebay when you are done:

It's the Ion Tailgater -- you can get 8 hours via the battery and not have to plug it in -- plus you can hook up mics. Heck, you might even be able to use it for your reception if it's really small!

My hubby's a musician so we had an amplifier already (guitar amp, but the music quality was good, so it was fine). Any kind of speaker/amplifier that you can get will be able to hook up to your ipod. all you need is a 1/4" jack to headphone jack adapter and it'll plug right in to where you'd put the headphones. Some computer speakers already have a headphone jack, but really you can use just about anything as long as the sound quality is good enough/loud enough.

Just have to wonder at what point do the costs balance out to actually hiring a DJ? You'll need a way to make announcements I assume with that same system.

If you don't spend a lot of money, you aren't going to get a lot of volume, let alone sound quality out of it. I did an event recently where a DJ used a portable sound system for the bride walking down the "aisle" at a Bed and Breakfast, and the speaker blew before she even walked down.

As suggested by someone else, your best option is probably a rental so you're getting higher end gear without the pricetag of buying something.

I think for the ceremony live music is better, also reception would be nice , but I guess the dj can do that
