Need Honeymoon help for outdoorsy couple

Stephanie, on June 30, 2019 at 12:37 PM Posted in Honeymoon 1 40
Hello,

I am looking for suggestions on places to go for a honeymoon the end of September(Sept 24-27). Looking to stay in the U.S. and prefer some place scenic either pretty beaches or moutain views and cool hiking spots. I was thinking about the Gulf side of Florida but I am worried about hurricane season. Has anyone done a Florida honeymoon at the end of September? I was looking at Siesta Key/Fort Myers area ir the panhandle. Also, looked up Colorado because I love hiking scenic mountains and have only been on the southeast coast. I live in Michigan and have never been out West. With Colorado I am wondering if its too late in the season to go. I've heard Trail Ridge road sometimes closes due to snow. Anyone taking a honeymoon in the U. S. End of September? Where are you going? We love tge outdoors, hiking, kayaking or just relaxing on the beach. Any suggestions appreciated! Thank you! Smiley smile

California has beach and mountains and September/October is the warmest time of year in the part where I live. A lot of outdoorsy couples honeymoon in Carmel/Big Sur.

I actually went there a couple summers ago. It was absolutely beautiful! Loved the smokies! I kind of want to check out another National park just trying to figure out where I can go at that time of year. Thanks for the suggestion! Smiley smile

I knew someone who went to Chincoteague for their honeymoon. It's still warm there at the end of September.

What about the Wasatch mountains in Utah? My mom's family lives there and pretty much refuses to vacation anywhere else. Lots of camping, hiking, etc. Little Cottonwood canyon is where they are. Also home to Snowbird resort. One of the world's best skiing/hiking resorts. And Altar resort. Smaller, but just as pretty. And no hurricanes! Lol

The Adirondack mountains in NY are beautiful! They’re about a 4 hour drive from where I live in central NY, and we go as often as we can! We are also super outdoorsy, and the hiking/camping/kayaking up there is amazing! But there are also several places with super fancy beautiful hotels (look at Lake Placid and Lake George). We also have just spent a weekend motel hopping from town to town and that was a super fun trip as well!

We’re a more outdoorsy adventurous couple and we honeymooned at the Grand Canyon! It’s breathtakingly beautiful and there are plenty of trails to hike! I don’t know about the weather in September but we had snow and sleet in May!

The Deep Creek area in Maryland is a beautiful place in the fall- lots of hiking and water activities.

Washington state is pretty great. If you start in Seattle, you can drive about an hour in any direction and come across a difference experience. You get rolling hills and desert, rainforests, mountains, beaches. It's not real hot in September, but it won't be cold. Can't beat the PNW!

We live in Colorado about 45 minutes from RMNP and go up frequently for day trips. Trail Ridge Road is generally open into October, weather depending of course, and even when it’s close you can still go up pretty high to get great views and access a lot of good trails. There is still plenty of opportunity for hiking through September, to me it’s a bit nicer because it’s not as hot or busy. September and October are considered fall in the park, which can see some early snows, but the majority of our snowfall usually comes at the beginning of the year with March typically being the snowiest month. Last year, we had such a hot summer the fall colors were later than normal, so you’ll be close to peak colors (usually mid-September). Happy planning!

We're having a DW in Montana in Glacier National Park so we probably will be having our honeymoon over there as well. Its simply georgous our ceremony will be right on Lake McDonald. Which is a great kayaking and hiking around there.

Thats what I've bern thinking about. Ive never been there. Where are you staying? I noticed the lodges in the park fill up fast. I'm thinking about staying a couple days at Grabd Canyon and a day or two in Sedona.
