Need Groom and Groomsmen Attire Help!!

FutureMrs.B, on June 10, 2014 at 6:20 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

I am having a barn wedding, which started off simple and mostly informal. Now, with my dress being more formal and my bridesmaids upping their look to match, I cannot figure out how make FH and his guys match us. He absolutely does not want a TUXEDO. And its not quite that formal anyways. I've included a pic of my dress and the Bridesmaid/Jr B's dresses so you get a feel for the direction.

The Colors are the current choice, but may be switching to Iris (B's) and Meadow (Jr B's) which are just lighter variations.

Pics/ suggestions/ links.... can use all the help I can get! Thank You!!

**EDIT** Sorry about it posting the topic 3 times!?!? I locked the other 2. Hopefully they'll fade off into the weddingwire sunset. :-/

Why not do suits? Suits are way more causal.

I think a gray suit would look fantastic.

I'm obsessed with this look. It's formal but not too stuffy.

I love your dress! You look beautiful. We had this situation sort of happen with us too - I was originally going to make my dress, but it got out of hand and I ended up buying one - which was more formal than I'd originally intended. Plus, we kept upping the fancy level for the groomsmen/groom - so now they're wearing a button-down shirt (white) and black slacks with a tie and nice suspenders. My groom is wearing a grey French-cuff shirt (so, with cufflinks), with black slacks, tie and suspenders. I think either something like that would work well in your situation, or the vests as suggested by M&T. Maybe a nice hat for wedding party pics - a fedora, perhaps?

@M & T: I love that look! I really want my FH in a gray tux/suit for our wedding. I think it looks so chic, but not stuffy.

I like the suit idea! And the grey would be neutrally pleasing. Especially since my dress is Ivory (hard to see in pic). Thanks!

Our wedding is rustic/county. I just couldn't picture tuxes/suits really matching in with how I am doing things. So we are going this route. My FH and his guys (all a bunch of country boys) were all for this idea! lol

ETA - love your dress!! Smiley smile

^^^^ My original plan! But now my family thinks it won't match, and I am worried too! We started off with Jeans and a Burlap colored vest. Now its against all odds that they would work. :-( I loved it too...

What about suits as opposed to tuxes?

It will totally work. I say everything can be dressed up or down. For the girls hair keep it nice and flowy and wear simple flats and simple jewelry. Guys wear dress pants button up shirt vest and tie.

Hmmm.... many choices! What would you think if they wore DARK denim jeans, a cotton button up, tan(ish) vest and coordinating ties? And then I love the idea of them wearing Vans or Converse. But it will likely have to be loafers.

I dislike that idea. Jeans, no matter how dark, would not match the formality of your dress or your BMs' dresses.

I love your dress!! I think it will match the theme perfect! I'm getting married on the beach and I'm wearing a ball gown. I think suits will be a great idea, they can be bought for the same price as a tux rental.

@doeydo: Yeah, FH is pushing for the jeans. I told him we can do the suits for the wedding, and they can throw jeans on after our dance/ M&S dance. I am trying to make him happy, but it doesn't seem to want to work. :-/

@Brooke: Thank you! It was so original and ME! I had no clue how popular the skirts like this were, but everyone has one. And they all look amazing! (but I AM partial to mine)

Your dress is beautiful! I think the grey suits or vests/jeans suggestions are good (personally I don't like jeans at weddings but I do think the look would work for a barn style wedding) I think Khakis would look very nice too though... something along these lines could be stunning...
