We met when we both lived in Portland, OR, Blues Dancing at Lenora's Ballroom. We started dating on December 14th, 2008 and our first date was supposed to include dinner at a noodles place and Swing Dancing afterwards. There was a freak snowstorm (anyone who lived in Portland during that time will remember the large quantity of snow we had those few days), so the noodle place closed and the dancing was cancelled. We decided to go out anyway, in my little subcompact car, and went for sushi. Then we got hot chocolate from the supermarket and watched The Italian Job at his place. When he got a job nine months later in Bellevue, WA, we decided to move together, and move in together. Then we moved a year and a half later to Chicago, and during our epic road trip south around the Rockies to get there in 2011 we hit what the midwest still calls the "Snowpocalypse". So we have some interesting history with snow. Now we're about to move back to Portland together. On my 28th birthday, at midnight, I opened up my birthday present to find (among other nice present-things) a ring box, and he got down one knee and proposed. Yay! So we've been engaged a few weeks, and have had the opportunity to celebrate with everyone here in Chicago, before starting a new phase in Portland.
