Need advice for decorations!!

Ayantu, on December 15, 2021 at 11:03 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7
Hey all! I’m so confused on how to go about my decorations. I know what I want (color, centerpieces and all that). My problem is if I should get a vendor or not. One of my mom’s friend, who does decorations (not as a professional, but as a side gig here and there) offered to do it for me as a weeding gift. And I jumped on the idea. However, she is so hard to get in touch with! We didn’t finalize anything and I have been going back and forth with her missing my call and vice versa 🙄 I’ve recently talked to vendors but they are way over my budget 😩 on another note, I have a team of 12 (cousins, friends and family) dedicated and ready to help out if I decide to DYI it.
What’s the smartest way to go about this?? I’m confuseddddddd 🙄 I have everything else in order but this is spinning my head.. help!!!!

How crafty is your team? Will they be able to diy your decorations to your standards? The other thing to consider is that sometimes by the time you buy everything you need to diy it, it doesn't save you that much money. Not to mention all the time that you and your friends would have to invest. It doesn't sound like your mom's friend will be reliable enough to trust with this.

100% this. These are the reasons I decided not to DIY. Time commitment is huge hunting down, finding, and decorating them.

If you want to DIY you have to make sure everyone is committed! I DIY’d almost my whole wedding and it took months, even with help, so it’s definitely a process. It’s so fun and rewarding, but I doubted how hard it would be. Good luck hun!!

Ok so I live in Tampa and found a FB group page called "Tampa wedding swap", see if you have one in your city. It's a page where women are selling their new/used wedding decor/dresses/etc.
    VERY useful.

Hey Tampa pal!! lol I live in Sarasota (FL). I found a FB group called Wedding Resale - same concept but there are posts from all over the US. A lot are willing to ship. I'm not ready yet (too early) but I have the site bookmarked for future finds.

Came here to suggest Facebook groups, but I see they've already been mentioned. Seriously they are so helpful! So many beautiful gently used items out there to be bought.

Another useful thing to look into is a wedding resources/vendor Facebook group. I'm from Georgia and joined a state-wide wedding resources group right after I got engaged. It helped me to find several of my vendors. So many brides post in the group seeking vendors that will fit within a specific budget and they get tons of feedback and suggestions from both vendors and other brides. I'd give that a shot if you'd like to steer clear of the DIY time commitment.

Good luck! Your wedding day will be beautiful no matter what you decide.
