NEED a song for lighting the unity candle

We are having a "family unity candle" service that will include my 2 children. We are looking for a song that is not too long, but is nice, and convase a family unit. We had one picked out, but when we all pretended to do the ceremony, the song seemed to last forever. We had the candle lite, and was back in position and the song played, and played, and played....forever. Any suggestions?

As an Officiant, the actual lighting of the candle does not take that long. Also, will your officiant be talking during that time? Your musicians knows when to fade out the music if you choose to use music during the unity candle ceremony. Timing and cue's are everything with your ceremony from beginning to end. A good Officiant and good musician (harpist, DJ whatever) will coordinate it all for you in advance. Are you having a professional rehearsal? That is the time to work through any of those details.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. The Unity Candle is a lovely part of the ceremony but, as you found when you did your trial run, it's quite short. I couldn't agree more with the previous post, cuing is very important and a live musician can adjust the music. I usually play a chorus only of "The Wedding Song" (There is Love) by Paul Stookey I can repeat it once if necessary. The timing is usually perfect.

Instead of the unity candle we are pouring sand to invole our kiddos i am having a hard time finding a song to play while were doing that. My fiance is a big elvis fan
