Are naked cakes a trend you want to see continued in 2019? Are they in or out?

I think it’s funny that people who don’t want frosting would want a naked cake when all you have to do is just not eat the frosting and just eat the cake and filling instead and then people who like frosting get to have frosting.

Out! We are probably doing a dessert table instead of a big cake

In. I think they look so interesting and less fussy than over-the-top cakes.

It depends on the style of the wedding. I think they're best if you're doing a barn wedding or something along those lines but they look totally out of place at a black tie wedding.

In! Fondant is gross and too much frosting overpowers the cake flavor. I vote yes on naked cake and have chocolate ganache dripping down Smiley laugh

I'm doing a semi naked with a ganache. I don't eat cake, so it's only a single tier for the whole cake cutting thing. I'm doing cupcakes and whoopie pies for guests.

I've never really been into them at all. I like fun, lively cakes and I feel like naked cakes are just a little too simple.

I believe its a personal preference of the wedding couple. Many times, people don't even notice the cake as it sits in a corner and now a days the cake is cut and served with no fan fare! Its mostly for the bride's pictures.

Some of the them look really pretty, but it's just not my style! I love the textured look on white buttercream

IN, IN, IN! However, a semi-naked is so much better, it adds that nice amount of moisture.

I've considered doing a naked cake because my FH has autism and sensory issues when it comes to frosting and other cream based foods. Not that he'd have an issue if we had a frosted cake he just wouldn't want to eat any of it. He likes almond, carrot, and banana cake but always scrapes off the frosting or just doesn't partake if the icing is too thick for his tastes. We originally weren't going to have a cake and only have cookies but we're getting a lot of flack for it so we thought maybe a naked cake would do best.

I would say naked cakes are out due to their appearance, but semi-naked cakes would be nice for people who don't really like frosting.

Mine is partially naked. I actually plan to have some of my cake so I'm making it something I would eat!
