Nails done for bridal shower?

Courtney, on June 23, 2016 at 8:41 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 37

Did you ladies get your nails done for the bridal shower? I'm debating whether it is worth it or not. I'm not crazy about acrylic nails since they kill your natural nail, but I was debating about gel nail polish. My bridal shower is August 6th, and the wedding is September 17th. I'm debating getting them done for both and probably once in between to maintain (as gel nail polish typically only lasts 2-3 weeks). I'm just wondering if it's worth the extra money or not. Opinions?

I did it because I wanted to do a test run for my wedding day nails.

You could def skip it if you wanted to go save money. It's not necessary.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but who cares? Literally nobody but you. So save money if you want, get them done if you want.

I also did it as a trial run for the wedding. I'm hopeless when it comes to doing my own nails but I want them to look nice for the wedding so I'm definitely going to get them done by a professional.

@ Holly congrats! I'm also a teacher and the first day of summer is the best! (as I type this at summer school)

My shower is this weekend and I got my nails done yesterday for it. i bite my nails if I don't get them done and I want them to be long for the wedding so I'm planning to maintain them throughout the summer. If you want to great, but like others have said no one will care if they are done or not.

I always paint, even the shellac damages my nails. I will have it done for the wedding but that is all.

Do it!! I love gel polish, it helped me grow my nails and it looks so good! So worth it!

If you want to?! I mean... its not necessary. But this is coming from someone who never gets their nails professionaly done. The last time I got them done was for my wedding.

Often for special events (not for my wedding though) I'll use press-on nails when I don't want to commit to gel or acrylics (both pricey to maintain and bad for your nails). That's what I did for my shower. I'm really good at the press-ons and they last for about a week, and people always think I got them done!

I did not. I just didn't make the time and it was ok without it.

@FallBride a regular manicure is around $15 and a gel manicure is $30-$35 where I live.

I didn't get them done for my shower, I always just did them myself. You can always go that route if you're able to do them yourself.

I did however, get a gel manicure for my wedding and I've been hooked ever since! Gels are great for durability.

@annak that picture is adorable and your nails looks great! I might seriously consider just doing glue on nails for the shower and get the gel for my wedding.

@fallbride as I noted above, I would get gel nail polish, which would require me to maintain them between the bridal shower and the wedding and I'm not typically one to get my nails done

I'll probably get mine done for the wedding for the sake of pictures, but i don't usually paint my nails or get them professionally done. So i'm not going to get this done for the bridal shower. It's a waste for me. I am going to try to do my hair trial the day of the shower though, so i don't waste a good hair day.

Where I live gel manicures are only $25 before tip. I loooove gel nails. I'll probably have them for engagement pics, shower, and of course wedding. That's coming from someone who gets gel nails every now and then. I don't "maintain" them I tend to peel them off myself, bad I know.

Hi date twin! I plan on painting mine for the shower, but will most likely get gel or shellac for the wedding

Agreed that this is a completely personal choice. I am required to have short unpolished nails for work (nurse), so I may not even have them done for the wedding.

Totally personal choice. I will sometimes get my nails done for nice events, so I'll probably get them done for my bridal shower.

@Fall Bride - I'm coming to your place for manicures Smiley smile $10 is an awesome price!
