Nails done for bridal shower?

Did you ladies get your nails done for the bridal shower? I'm debating whether it is worth it or not. Did you ladies get your nails done for the bridal shower? I'm debating whether it is worth it or not. I'm not crazy about acrylic nails since they kill your natural nail, but I was debating about gel nail polish. My bridal shower is August 6th, and the wedding is September 17th. I'm debating getting them done for both and probably once in between to maintain (as gel nail polish typically only lasts 2-3 weeks). I'm just wondering if it's worth the extra money or not. Opinions?

Gel will ruin your nails. This is the result of a horrible gel mani at a chincy shop. My normal shop wasn't available and this is what I got... $27 later and I should have just painted them myself.

I did, but I don't think anyone really noticed. Even though I didn't have my ring at Christmas when I last saw most of the family in attendance. I always just get polish (not a fan of gel and I'd rather plain polish just look fresher for the day) and e-pics, luncheon in lieu of shower, and wedding were the only times I've gotten my nails done this year!

It's obviously your choice but I would get them done. I tried SNS nails this time instead of gel nails since it's supposed to be healthier than gel nails and almost 2 weeks later, it looks amazing still. It was like $4 more but totally worth it. I wouldn't waste money on a regular mani since almost every time they chip before I even make it home.

If you're getting your nails done in Yonkers or Mount Vernon maybe a regular manicure is $10. You can't even get a $10 manicure in Maspeth, Queens.

    *insert eye roll*

And it's significantly more in Manhattan.

I was just thinking about wedding nails! I will probably get gel nails in a pretty and natural color. For the shower I will probably just file them into a nice shape and apply a clear top coat like I usually do. I am really digging the natural and classy look of well kept & natural nails. Get a hardening top coat to keep them from breaking. You save a decent amount of money this way, too....

Another vote for press-ons...I gave another friend who loved them the side eye until I put my first set on. Then I shut up and my nails haven't been without them since. They have come a loooooong way since the 80s. $8-$10 for a set at any drugstore, come in a variety of colors, you can pop them on at your convenience and minimal (if any) damage to nails. ImPress is my favorite brand!!

Eh, I didn't even get my nails done (professionally) for the wedding. To me it's a waste of money because I'm never happy with the results and feel I do a much better job myself. I like the occasional pedicure just because it feels nice and is relaxing but I don't really do pro manicures.

I've recently started getting semi regular shellac nails done at a local shop and it usually runs me about $40 plus tip. Their regular mani is still $25 and I'm in Austin, Tx for reference. I'd almost be afraid to only pay $10 for a mani haha.

Personally I love it because otherwise I peel my finger nails off til they bleed. Working where I do, I constantly have to wash my hands and use alcohol rubs but it still lasts.

I would. Gel polish is amazing! I'm not crazy about acrylics either.

I love gel. It helps keep my nails strong. So i did gel for the last few months prior to my wedding to make sure they would look big day ready.

I love getting my nails done but wether I get gel or regular they always chip! I'm on long island a mani run between 10-15 and gel is 25-40 depending on what u get.

Hi ladies! I am actually a Jamberry nails rep in the US and we have some great designs that are perfect weddings/showers/etc. One sheet of nails wraps gives you 4 manicures, or approx. 2 manicures and 2 pedicures for $15. That works out to about $4 per mani/pedi. We have over 300 designs to choose from so there is something for everyone. They are super easy to apply and don't damage your nails. We also have a Gel Enamel system that uses an LED light and all our gel enamel and nail lacquer is 5 free which means it is free of harmful chemicals and is gluten free. You can check more at my website mkitson.jamberry.com or you can follow me on Facebook at facebook.com/jamminmel15
