My self esteem is lower than ever

I was on here a few days ago talking about bridal pictures and whether or not to do them. My family paid the price for them and so I was able to do it. Long story short...I hate them. There's a picture in my head of what a bride is supposed to look like and I just don't fit that picture. I'm...

I was on here a few days ago talking about bridal pictures and whether or not to do them. My family paid the price for them and so I was able to do it. Long story short...I hate them. There's a picture in my head of what a bride is supposed to look like and I just don't fit that picture. I'm terrified because my wedding is in 3 weeks and I just don't feel beautiful enough to be seen in front of people or by my fiancé for that matter. I just need someone to understand where I'm coming from. I'm crying as I type this. I'm terrified of being seen in front of people in my dress and to walk down the aisle. I just don't feel like me. I don't understand why my self esteem is so down when I should be filled with excitement during this time. When I talk to my friends and family they tell me I'm being ridiculous. I just need someone to understand how I'm feeling and how to make it better. I was told a couple of weeks ago by a woman to straighten my hair (it's very curly) contnd. In comments

You need to get whatever picture you have in your mind OUT. Every bride looks different. Everyone wears a different dress, different make up, different hair. Everyone at some point feels like they don't look good enough, you just have to get that out of your head and love yourself for who you are.

I don't have much to say besides the fact that someone has asked for your hand in marriage which means that someone (a lot more than just one person, let's be honest) is looking forward to watching you walk down that aisle. Love your God-give imperfections and work it! You're beautiful!

The advice that Antonia gave you is some of the best advice I've ever received and it can help so much. Every morning, when you get up make yourself say that and even if you don't really believe it at first you might start to after a while.

I can relate to how you're feeling-I struggle with feeling like I'm not "pretty" enough or fit a mold that bride should look. I don't wear dresses well ever, so the idea of dressing up and being the center of attention sometimes does feel overwhelming and its so outside of my comfort zone. I send you tons of well wishes OP. BTW-I love your hair!! Smiley smile

@OP, I looked really closely at your profile picture and you have such a pretty face and your hair is great. You're going to be a beautiful bride!

Sounds like you're competing with and comparing yourself to something that none of us can attain. You look gorgeous. I have no suggestions because I love all of how you look. Definitely keep the curly hair, it's so pretty. Don't do anything with your dress, it's gorgeous.

I hate that you don't see how amazing you look.

I totally understand. I have struggled with my weight my whole life. I was terrified to go wedding dress shopping. I was convinced everyone would be staring at me in the store, with looks of disgust, thinking "she looks awful" or even worse. But it didn't happen. Instead I received many compliments and left feeling better. And I know it will be even better on the day of the wedding, as everyone there will know me, love me and support me and will not be thinking horrible things. Still I know when I get my photos back after the big day I'll be focused on my back fat and double chin. I think it's something all women do. But we shouldn't. You are beautiful. You are LOVED. And you should love yourself the way you are...Just like everyone else does.

    1. Girl you are stunning! I love love love EVERYTHING about your shoot. You killed it! Looks very bridal to me.

    2. F#€! Whoever said straighten your hair! You hair is the bomb in ALL its curly glory. I wore my hair curly for my wedding because I refused to conform to what others thought on my wedding day. You look amazing in your shoot just the way you are!

@Richard, can you be all of our gay best friends?!

@OP - You look stunning! To be honest I was expecting to see an ill-fitted dress not doing you much justice... BUT WOW! You look perfect! You will rock that dress AND YOUR CURLS on your wedding day!

I am very critical of myself in photos...then after some time passes, when I look at the pics again, I wonder WHAT WAS I THINKING? I have a feeling you will feel like a beautiful bride on your wedding day, and will end up LOVING the majority of the pics. Be kind to yourself Smiley smile
