MY DRESS MAY NOT FIT! Help!

Sierra, on April 19, 2017 at 11:53 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

My wedding is two months away and I'm panicking my dress may not fit! I got my dress about 3 months ago and the dress I loved at the store happened to be a perfect fit! No alterations needed and no waiting for it to be ordered... since I waited til the last minute.

Well I have been obsessing about my weight this entire time bc my dres is verrrryyy form fitting (Allure 9416). The bridal shop where my dress is over an hour away so I have not tried it on since. So I decided to compare my measurements to what Allure has online.... they don't match. My bust and hip are just right but my actual waist is 1.5 inches larger! I know I didn't gain that much since picking out my dress.

SO...

Is it possible the sample dress im buying is stretched out?

Or do I need to be prepared for it not to fit and pray they can let it out.

Has anyone had to have their dress let out...and how much $?

If you bought a sample, then yes, it's most likely stretched out.

Yes, the samples get tried on so many times they stretch out.

Unless you got it from DB, I'm having a hard time believing the salon let you order a dress without measuring you.

Yes, the sample is most likely stretched out. Sorry. Can't help on the other info

Sample sizes are often stretched out almost a size more. So if the sample fit, I'd say you're okay. Why haven't you picked it up yet? I'd pick it up very soon so if alterations need to be made, they will get done in time.

Some dresses can be let out, and others can't. If it can't be let out, an option is to add a corset back if it doesn't already have one.

Wait... Were you measured? Or did you or the consultant say "Okay, this sample fits you, let's order the size of this sample"? Samples are stretched out. Unless you purchased THAT sample dress (off the rack), the size of the sample once ordered (as a new dress) will likely be smaller. Don't freak out until you have the dress though. When will it be in or when can you go try it on?

Yes it is probably stretched out. Also a good pair of spanks can work miracles.

eta: it sounds like you bought the sample and put it on lay away or something?

I purchased this same dress as well. I'm confused if you purchased the sample why don't you have the dress with you? Or did you purchase the same size as the sample?

I'd be more concerned if your bust and hips were bigger than the measurement chart. A good spanx should take care of the middle section hopefully.

Yes I actually purchased the sample dress... we were nervous if i ordered a new one, it may not have been in on time. I do not have the dress with me right now bc I am making payments. I am hoping to go within the next two weeks to try it on again and pick it up.

The dress has a very good built in corset... like I don't know if I'll be able to sit lol.

Well if you purchased the one you physically had on and that's what you'll wear and if it fit then, you'll be fine Smiley smile

That dress is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Don't fret too much. Try it on again in 2 months and if it needs to be altered, you still have a little bit of time (or spanx I guess?)

If you purchased the sample and it fit you I'd say you're fine as they do get stretched a little. I wasn't given this information and the consultant allowed me to order the exact size of the dress I tried on.........well, I had to have it let out a little as it was too tight.

OP I would HOPE if you purchased the sample (even if making payments on it), the boutique pulled it from the rack and isn't still allowing people to try it on (yuck)! In that case, you will be absolutely fine. I'm interested to see what accessories you go with for the dress since it's the same one I purchased.

I haven't decided on a veil yet... though I'm leaning toward a cathedral length with very simple detail; pearl or crystal on the edge.

    Silver badgley petrina shoes

    A simple Swarovski tennis bracelet.

And I am still looking for earrings... I'm thinking chandelier/ drop with crystal and pearls.

I am going for a simple, classic, clean look.

    What about you?!

My shoes (Badgley) are in my profile pic. I tried on a really simple jeweled belt with the dress and loved it also. I still haven't decided on a veil. I'm concerned cathedral length may take away from the detail on the bottom.

Also, I was just thinking the dress is satin which also means the one you tried on probably wasn't stretched out much. Satin doesn't typically give.

Here is a picture of my on the dress... I guess this would be more helpful than the model lol.

Love the shoes! I wish I could wear a taller heel, but the dress is just the right length without shoes. I bought almost a 2 inch heel... I hope they aren't too tall.
