My bridesmaids suck.

CostumedBride, on August 22, 2013 at 10:47 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 57

They were originally really excited and happy to be a part of the day, but it seems the further we get in planning the less excited they are.

I don't know how to get them in gear and its really frustrating. I even had a few fight me on certain decisions and choices I was making for the wedding. I am not asking much of them at all. I am buying their outfits and paying for makeup, I don't see the big deal.

Maybe they nervous to wear costumes? Do they like the costumes you bought? You are still having a costume wedding right?

Unfortunately, I think this is just how it goes...no matter how much or little you ask of them-you will always run into snags. No one will ever be as excited about your wedding as you and when you have that many opinions flying around it gets messy. Try and take deep breaths and stick to your guns on what's important, without losing sight of their wishes (even though they shouldn't have any because they are there to support YOU)

I wouldn't be happy either if you said I sucked and I was your BM.

They obviously aren't taking your wedding seriously since you aren't either.

Make sure you are still being their friend and taking an interest in their lives. It gets really easy for brides to get so involved in wedding planning that they ignore everything else and constantly talk wedding. It can make friends become uninterested.

I Love how you come on here expecting a pitty party when you and I both know you're just going to turn around and talk unkindly about us on TK when things don't go your way.

Go ahead and flag this. I don't care. I'm just sticking up for my girls and guys on here.

I think the big deal is that maybe they realized you aren't taking your own wedding personally and think you may be asking too much of them to wear these elaborate costumes. Maybe some of them don't feel comfortable in them...did you ask them how they felt? Just because you are buying it shouldn't mean they have to wear it.

We've scaled back the costume idea A LOT. These are their dresses. We are doing heavier, smoky makeup and red rose bouquets with black gems in them.

Oh wow okay I was totally lost lol.

CostumeBride that's a nice arse dress!!! Maybe have a meeting with all of them, do a happy hour where y'all can relax and just chat about some stuff. I agree with the comment above that at times we forget that wedding stuff isn't on everyone else's agenda as it's on our brain daily!

Aaah shit....I just looked at the link mc4dj13 posted and I see why everybody goin in on you....I wouldn't have wanted to wear that either! But you have since changed. I think it can be difficult for others to take us serious if we are so wishy washy...I think you and FH need to have a serious discussion and make some serious decisions first then talk to your wedding party.

You're the one on here saying that your bridesmaids suck and we're the ones being rude and judgmental?

We have totally changed a lot!!! So for people judging my past choices, they aren't even the same. We have gone through a lot of ideas trying to plan a wedding in a matter of a few weeks.

I am not even being a zombie bride anymore. I am just being a goth bride. Here is my dress and I did my best with photo shop to show how we are dip dying it. I am doing a black lace ribbon (not the one pictured) and a black rose bouquet (fake). Its much more serious now.
