Mother's wedding dress

on September 3, 2019 at 4:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3
So, I am using my mother's wedding dress and Ive tried it on twice now. The first time I was a lil chunky so when it didn't zip I said no problem I need to lose some weight anyway. This time however I have lost weight and it won't zip past my rib cage. Obviously I can't alter the structure of my bones. The dress fits great except for the widest part of my ribs and seems to be fine above. Just wondering the type of alterations I'm going to have to do? Is it a big thing or just a small fix?

It depends on the design of the dress. It could be an easy fix or a super detailed one. I would take it in to a seamstress and see what they say.

I'm no seamstress, but I would think they could let it out a little on each side. Nothing major.. every dress usually has enough material to let it out a size.. this may vary as I am not sure if your mother had any alterations done on the dress prior.

    Hey there Anna!

I think it’s so sweet that you plan on wearing your mother’s dress.

As Emily mentioned, how big a job it is would really depend on the design of the dress.

I would recommend you take the dress, or a picture of the dress to a seamstress to discuss what would be involved and get some pricing for alterations.

Do you have a seamstress in mind who you could work on this with?
